Carbs are the devil!!!

Yep, carbs are the El Diablo of dieting.  They benefit us, yet they don’t let us know we are taking in too much and turning into Jabba the Hut.  

So, I get asked alot about carb cycling.  Beware, I am new at this and  am discovering new things all the time, but no matter how much research I do……..never really get one single answer that everyone can agree on.   Yes, I do research on all aspects of fitness…..Im obsessed…true….so very true. 

So, that being said, my carb cycling looks like this:

approx 4 days of low carbs, under 100 grams

1-2 days of almost no carbs (this is hard, by day two you are trying to stay awake and you are in debt at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks cus you are using coffee to stay concious)

then…..big fat carb day, up to 250 grams (or even 300 or not counting because I am not quite obsessive enough to actually carry a calculator around like Bill Gates)

I am not talking lots of white bread or white pasta…ooohlala.the white devil…….

I am talking a cup of oatmeal for breakfast, some brown rice or whole wheat pasta or even saving a carb up for your cheat day if you really want to.  Just be sensible because lemmee tell you, belly bloat and gas is not a pretty thing when you got the ‘carb bloats’. 

Now, when you are kinda lean, carb depleting will make your skin kinda empty, its hard to get a good pump and you may be sleepy.  Its sorta like the Atkins diet without saying you are allowed to eat bacon because you are not watching fats at all.  Thats a little nutty.

Everyone is DIFFERENT.  Pinch your skin, know your body, listen to your body. Watch for signs of dehydration when dieting.  This is a lifestyle choice, not traditional dieting actually. 

When I am bulking, I have carbs daily.  Clean carbs burn better and keep glycogen levels at an even keel.  Try to think of good gas and bad gas (for you car silly, not the butt kind)  Good gas burns clean and doesnt gunk up your engine..bad gas leaves junk and buildup and is not used efficiently. Make sense now?  Carbs are fuel…..energy for body and brain.  Try not to have them late at night, but earlier in the day when you will use them up.  A nightime bag of movie popcorn wont ruin you!!!  One slip up does not ruin you!!!

    Thanks for clarifying the approx. grams of carbs to use in a cycle. I need to log on to fitday to work out a day plan now.
    LOL at the gas analogy.

    Love your blog!!! Do you have a fair amount of fats on your no carb days?? how does your weight training schedule on no carb days? Is it usually a day off or a light day? thanks for the info!! Good luck on your comp!

    Im low fat most days. Imkind of get a feel for what I need, its weird. I will do a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter. Listen to your cravings
