Fact from Fiction

I know from experience that no matter what I post about my diet or exercises, someone is going to tell me I am doing it wrong no matter what.  Let me just say there are so many articles telling you "do this and do that".  It’s the same with stuff like coffee.  One day it will give you a heart attack, the next day, it’s good for preventing cancer.  All (wo) men are NOT created equal in dieting and exercise.  We all have different metabolisms and although they can be spiked, some will do so much easier than others.  Someone could put 2 people on the same "diet" and both may get different results.  I read a womans post about the diet where you eat cheese and pepperoni……it sounded weird to me.  How are you supposed to lose weight?  She actually GAINED 5 lbs on the diet.  I am sure it was the low carbs or something that makes it work for some people.  The Atkins diet closely resembles a "bodybuilders" diet.  Low carbs down to no carbs, BUT these people think they can eat bacon and other high fat foods and that it will be ok.  Not according to the American Heart Association!   You need to discover your own healthy balance.  I read the "eat clean diet" by Tosca Reno.  There are lots of great tips in it and I was happy to find I was already doing 99% of it on my own even before opening the book!  You need foods that are going to be burnt efficiently, without leaving much waste behind to turn into fat.  Not too many starches (carbs and such), enough fiber and enough protein.  Slower burning carbs like whole grains.  It is easy to give up bread for whole grain breads.  thats not saying you can’t have a night out and eat some breadsticks you know!  Damn, I ate fishsticks last night leftovers from the kids……..I am an eating machine.  This is not so hard, this eating clean because after some time, the foods you used to love, become alien to you. The processed food will taste salty and "thick" and the pasta in the alfredo noodles will feel mushy and gummy. I kid you not.   I still eat cheese, but I buy the shredded kind pre packaged.  Only about 160 calories to throw in your food for some occasional treat like making a chef salad from a boring salad or tuna salad.

Also, I have people telling me I am lifting too heavy for a woman.  WTF does that mean?  So, 110 on my kneeling cable crunches is easy for me, so what?  The little woman can handle it ya know.  Why is it a man can tell a woman how to lift weights, yet she is the one carrying the 50 lb 7 year old to bed and hoisting him up onto the top bunk by herself when he is a crashed dead weight?  You see women picking up a 3 lb dumbbell and using it when you know she can hoist a gallon of milk at 8 lbs quite easily!  Just don’t underestimate yourself ladies!  You will still be a lady even if you lift heavy. I have yet to discover my 1st chest hair!!

Going to do legs back and bis tonight.  Hopefully my daughter can come with me.

Ill be back………

Your are right. People seldom and to often give their unsollisitated advice. Food is a wild subject to discuss because I can eat 8 eggs and get fat over it, but you can eat the same 8 eggs and build beautiful muscle with it. We should all search for what works for us, and give this advice to those who seek: find what works for you, but begin with this (…)

As for woman lifting weights beeing wrong… hell no! There is something sexy about a woman of can lift you! (my girlfriend is 110 lbs and lifts me off the ground, I’M 240!!!) That’s how I know she’s the boss…

    Have a good training!!

Bravo! I agree with you 100%. I always recommend The Eat Clean Diet Bppk by Tosca Reno because that seems to be the first step for newbies. IO had a friend ask me the other day if I was doing Atkins so it’s funny that you said that… I told her, no I do not do "the atkins diet" I follow a bodybuilding diet and like you said… it is similar but like I told her I do eat carbs just healthier ones. Anyway. I could totaly relate to this one. Never change, and always tell it like it is… Love that about you! xo Your bb-freak-sista!

  3. Ambroisa Says:

Amen to that sista! I got up 50’s for dumbbell chest press last week on my last set of 4 for 6 reps! Too heavy for a woman huh? You keep the boys shaken in their boots–they could definitely learn from you!

Uhhhh gatta love the queen of the blogs lol. Really clean eating is not rocket science and once you get into a grove with eating and exercise you learn how to be able to add in the foods you love. Balance is key ;)
    A.

  5. WannaGetLean Says:

haha.. I loved your post! Clean eating is by far the best, as you said once you try something that you used to eat..it doesn’t really taste good, or you start thinking how you could have made it better :) lol.

    Good post:)

I completely feel you on the point you made about you favorite foods becoming almost foreign or undesirable. I used to eat an entire loaf of raisin bread in one sitting–no kidding! I use to eat 2-3 sandwiches a day–more bread. I swore I would NEVER drink non-fat milk. And give me two TV shows, I could take out a box of cereal.

Now, I couldn’t and have no desire to eat that much bread. But my tastes have changed and my reasons for eating what I eat have changed–I need fuel and to feel energetic. My diet has lots of protein, good carbs, and colorful fruits and veggies. And the amazing thing is you get to eat ALOT and OFTEN–who knew?
