Preggo update- Monday June 22

Monday, June 22nd, 2009
Monday. UGH. Back at work today, just getting ready for a trip to Dallas for a few days to visit customers. I don’t know what I will do without my NAP! I am so exhausted now a days, it is hard to get through the day. Then the evening comes and by the time I go to the gym, get home, cook dinner, clean up and get a shower, I am ready for bed at 8:30! I have 1 more month until the 2nd trimester kicks in, then I will be back to somewhat normal!!! We have our 2nd ultrasound and ultrascan on Thursday morning. The little bean is now starting to make mommies tummy pooch! I hear that after your first pregnancy, you show sooner. I can tell you that is the TRUTH! My pants are tighter and I cannot fit in my size 4 pants much longer! Time to bite the bullet and face the inevitable! That’s ok! I am still exercising and eating well. Ok, so I have a little treat every now and then! Moderation right? I am not hitting it as hard in the gym right now, just aiming to maintain not grow (per the advice of many!). It is really hard for me not to give it 100% in the gym as that is just the way I am! But it is for the good of the bean so I will suck it up and be good!Hope you guys have a great week! I will post pics of the bean on Thursday.

XOXO Laurie

Inspire yourself AND motivate others to do the same..

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Sounds simple doesn’t it?  It is amazing the motivation I get when I see an overweight person killing it at the gym.  #1- they are MAKING THE EFFORT to do something wonderful for their health and body #2- they show others that it CAN be done!  #3- makes me want to work that much harder!

It is even more exciting when you see folks who have been coming to the gym for awhile and really make progress!  I usually go up to them and tell them how fantastic they look.  I love the way they BEAM!  Really makes my day!  I am really going to start pursuing more of a fitness related career.  I already have my website, www.bodymotioninc.com up and going and am doing my screenprinting on activewear again.  I am also taking some sports nutrition courses so pretty soon I will be CERTIFIED!  I am already helping some people with their diet and exercise plans and hope to continue and become even MORE knowledgeable as I become more educated.

It is ALL OF YOU who keep me motivated and for that I thank you!!

Until next time, motivate yourself and others!

Cya!

Not such a good day…

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I guess my "moodiness" is really in full swing with all my hormones in full baby making gear now.  Had a really bad day.  Woke up sick, nauseated and puking.  Exhasted, took a nap.  Woke up and still sick.  I called in sick to work and just really laying around all day!  UGHHH..  Now I am in that mode, you know, poor poor pitiful me.  Missed my step class and shoulder workout.  MAN, I really hate it when I get in a bummed out mood!

I am hoping (and praying!) that tomorrow is a better day.

POLL:  What do you guys do when you are feeling down in the dumps and unmotivated?

The sickness has hit!

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

I slept terribly last night. I keep getting up to use the restroom. Super busy week this week at work plus I am now looking for pregnancy nutritionist to make sure I stay on track with my weight gain. I want to keep close tabs on the nutrition as well as making it easy to get the extra weight off when I deliver the little "bean" in January! Sunday night I had my first bout with Morning sickness. Funny though, it was at 8pm!!! I was getting dinner on the table and it hit me like a brick! Poor Kenneth (my son), he did not know what to do so he went and got me a cold washcloth. What a doll! It did not last too terribly long which was good! I will continue to think positively and hope that it is not TOO bad! The more active I am, the better chance I have of having a mild case. Next Dr. appt is June 25th. We are just DYING to see the little one! Have a great week! Cya!

Update! Baby news!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Well, what news today! We had our first ultrasound! Mommy did not have morning sickness but daddy sure did! Acutally, he picked up a little bug at work and is feeling horrible. He hung in there though to get the first peek at the newest little one! Turns out we estimated our due date incorrectly. It is so interesting how modern technology can give you the age of a embryo down to the day! Anyhew, we miscalculated the last cycle and I am apparently a “late ovulator” lol. Got a kick out of that! SO- Baby Poe is only about 5 and 1/2 weeks old! It was really hard to see anything BUT we did manage to see and hear the heartbeat. WOW- that was really cool!!! Also, the technician said that the heartbeat was strong and normal for that age and the sac looked fine. I also had about 100 (ok, not quite a hundred) vials of blood taken for all my lab work. The lab tech said that my blood looked GREAT! VERY red, meaning that my diet is very good and I am very hydrated. So that made me feel good too! So, our new due date is January 30th! Daddy is really hoping we don’t get pushed into Superbowl time, especially if the Cowboys are playing! Our next appointment is June 25th for our 8 week ultrasound. THEN we should get some good shots! We will also have the option of doing what they call an Ultrascreen. It is a test using ultrasound and bloodwork to determine the risk of Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 and certain congenital heart defects. It will give us a good estimate of where we fall in terms of likelyhood of detection/risk. It has a 90% success rate of detecting those conditions WITHOUT having to do amniocenticis or other more invasive tests. Also, looks like I may not be out of the woods as far as morning sickness like I thought, what a BUMMER!!!! Aparantly that happens from 6-8 weeks. Until next time! Smiles, Laurie

Flax Seed Oil- A MUST read if you use it!!!

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Ok, I went to my local nutrition store to load up on fish oil (barf- but it is supposed to help my baby’s development and make it SUPER smart!) and we got into a conversation regarding clean cooking.. Since I cook clean the majority of the time (ok, I make my son some cookies every now and then, the old fashioned way with white flour-gasp!) I was very interested in what she had to say.  She went on to tell me that you CANNOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES heat flax oil.  It turns it car?cin?o?gen?ic Yep, that is UGLY my friends!!!  The only way you should use it is to drizzle it on the food POST cooking…  Also, it goes rancid very quickly (as does olive oil!) so you need to keep it refrigerated.

I was FREAKING out!  I have been cooking with it for months now!  At least since August last year.  She told me about Coconut oil.  I have heard about the benefits before but she is RAVING about it!  Not only is it a healthy oil with a high smoke point (meaning you can heat it to high temps and it won’t smoke like your olive or vegetable oils) BUT it actually LOWERS bad cholersterol and RAISES the good!  It helps you LOSE weight as well (you need to take 3 TBSP’s a day and drop your carbs!!!).

Lots of fun info from the health food store.  If you would like to know more about the Coconut diet, hit me up!

Thanks guys!
