Overcoming negative thoughts….

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Ok, I KNOW I am not alone out here with this…  You know, those days you have all those negative thoughts such as "why am I doing this", "why is this taking so long", "one cookie can’t hurt me, right?"…  Well, today was one of those days!  Had a mediocre workout tonight, major cramps so I just did back and biceps, no cardio…  I am just SO glad I went though!  On my way there I kept thinking how this was taking so long to bust through all these years of poor eating habits.  I have always been athletic, but never consistenly and I did it JUST so I could drink those beers or eat that dessert, etc.

So there I was, sitting in my car debating myself on weather or not I should go get ice cream or hit the free weights.  That is when it HIT ME like a brick.  Why would I want to set myself back like that?  Do I really want all this hard work to go down the tubes?  HELL NO!  So, I packed it up and headed inside.  I am SO glad I did!!  I keep thinking about DebraAnn’s video about Getting MAD at the fat.  Well I am DAMN MAD and refuse to let the FAT WIN!!!  I’m not saying that you can’t EVER have ice cream again, if you want to have it, have it!  I just made the decision that I am not going to sacrifice all this AND the way I feel from clean eating for a 2 minute sugar high!   I just keep thinking about how proud my husband will be of me when he sees me in October on his R&R from the Army!  :)

Back and Biceps tonight.  Got a great pump from the biceps and my back is looking much leaner!  I have messed up my rotator cuff (again) so I started PT yesterday.  I can feel it today since last night was chest and tri night…  So, after my dinner (of tuna - 6oz and mixed vegis 1 cup) I posted the recipie by the way!- I will get on my therapy exercises.

I am off with my family to hike Big Bend this weekend for Labor Day- I will post pics upon my return.

 Have a great week!

Sunday Meal Prep AND pool time!

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Happy Sunday!  Wow, I am in such a great mood today!  I guess cause today is LEGS day!  I love legs day!  Also today is meal prep for the week.  My inlaws are coming in to town this Thursday and we are headed to Big Bend (a National Park in Texas) to hike for Labor Day.  SO, that gives me my 4 day split plus a new workout (circuit) that Rae designed for me.  My cardio will be mostly HIIT during the week since my SS will be hiking (about 4 hours worth!).

I have to share a GREAT recipie for fiberous carbs/vegis….  I was SO bored with sauteeing them in Olive oil and balsamic I was choking them down.  I just threw this together today and it is FAB!!!!  I only wish my hubby could taste them, he loves when I whip stuff up in the kitchen!

Ok- here is the recipie for Cilantro/Mustard Vegis:

2 cups Eggplant

3 cups Zuccini

2 cups Red onion

3 cups broccoli

1 bunch cilantro

1/4 cup dijon mustard

1 TBSP Garlic Powder (not salt)

1/4 cup raw seeded mustard (you can omit and sub for any other mustard you like if you want)

1 TBSP Flaxseed oil

1/2 cup water

Preheat oven to 350

Spray the bottom of a large baking dish with olive oil pam (not too much!).  Dice all your vegis and place in pan.  Chop the cilantro VERY fine and mix in with the vegis.  Make sure to mix all the vegis up in the pan.  Combine all mustards, powder oil and water in small mixing bowl.  With a wire wisk or fork, combine.  Pour over vegis and mix with hands (make sure you washed them :)

Put in oven for 25 minutes.  Stores for a week.

Let me know if you like it!!!

NOW, I am going to layout by the pool.  Since it is Sunday, the people aren’t working on the house next door so I don’t need to worry about them perving on me!  LOL!

After an hour or so, I am going to head to the gym.  I like to go after my lunch (about an hour) so I can use my 4th meal as my postworkout meal.

Have a great day and talk to you guys soon!

Friday BLISS or is it?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

WOW- Friday night, my son is with his dad for the weekend and I am watching the dumbest movie of all time drinking a bliss shot ALONE!  Just a few months ago, I would have been at happy hour TRASHED by now, hungover all day Saturday eating a bunch of crappy food then complaining about my body.  I would not trade this night for ANYTHING other than maybe having my little one and husband with me!

Great week, still on track with the clean eating.  A bit disappointed as I am in day 22 and only down to 132.2 lbs.  Total weight loss of less than 4 lbs…  Ok, I am a bit bloated (hooray mother nature) so if this will hurry the hell up and get over with, I can take an accurate scale measurement.

On the subject of bliss shots, I really like them!  Don’t get me wrong, I also LOVE to drink I mean LOVE IT, but need to get to my goal weight before I add alcohol to the mix.  I am totally determined to make this happen.

I am an avid wig collector, I mean funky fun wigs ALL colors.  Right now I am up to 15.  So, I thought it may be fun to take some pics of me posing with them on!  Not sure if I will post them this weekend or after mother nature comes and goes, depends on the bloat!

Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

Entry 11- Just my 2 cents AND then a dollar!

Monday, August 18th, 2008

I think I am turning into the preacher.  You know, the one who continually tells people about their lessons learned?  I am sure EVERY gym has this:  The women (or men) who are older or look that way, pumping out the cardio like hamsters?  Not even really pumping it, just walking VERY slowly for about an HOUR?  The same ones who bitch about not losing any weight?  Ok, well I used to be like that (except for the OLD and slow part ;) .  I feel like such a DOPE that I worked my BUTT off (literally, now I have to build it back up- Go Ms. S Booty!) for a year without the results I desperately wanted….  I heard it a MILLION times, from my husband, other people at the gym, blah blah blah..  IT IS ALL ABOUT DIET~!  Yes, I convinced myself that with enough trimspa and running, I too could look like Pam Anderson!

I am now the ultimate beliver!  I am on my 3rd week of clean eating.  I feel FANTASTIC, I am losing 2 lbs of FAT per week and retaining that hard earned muscle.  I am on my way to a HARD BODY!

Where am I going with all this?  For all you ladies AND men out there who feel like you are spinning your wheels and getting nowhere, GET WITH THE PROGRAM- the diet program that is.  Look all over this site, ping other BS members who you admire and ASK what they do with their diet.  I will bet you a MILLION BUCKS that they will say the same:

To get a hard body physique it is 80% diet, 20% training.

I really just wish I had listened to my husband earlier! (I love you honey!)

Good luck and god speed- If I can help you with ANY of my lessons learned, just PM me.  I don’t want anyone else to struggle when they don’t have to!!!

Entry 10- It’s over, allot like Christmas :(

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Do you remember when you were a kid and you waited ALL year for Santa to come and fill your dreams of grandeur?  Well, that is kinda how I feel today.  ALL that training and work over the last several months only to be over in less than one hour and a half.  HUMMMMMM…..  Anyhew, the race went fine.  Started at 7am in the water, not too cold but choppy.  We all looked like pirana out there, just a bunch of purple caps bobbing.  300 yards, not that far in the whole scheme of things, BUT in open water with over 100 other women aged 35-39 TOUGH.  I stayed to the outside, tried to go freestyle and gave up when I ended up ingesting over 32 oz of lake water (yuck!).  Ended up doing mostly sidestroke and breaststroke.  When I got too tired, backstroke.  My many years as a competitive surfer definately paid off here, I was used to currents and knew what to expect which helped…There was a lady who was NOT doing good at all so I pushed her over towards the noodles so she could rest.  Came out of the water (more towards the front of the pack) then ran (hobbled) to the transition area.  I did take my sweet time drinking my NO Explode and goo, 11 miles is no small feat!  Especially for a NON biker!  Off on the bike and started strong.  My hips started to cramp up, probably normal for someone who has been on a bike a total of less than 10 times!  Pushed through it and transitioned to the run.  AHA, the run, my strength!  HAHAHAH. Right!  Not after all that!  Off to a slow start, BUT just kept telling myself "one foot in front of the other, repeat", I am sure people thought I was CRAZY!  Got to the half mark and the lead runner was on her way to the finish line.  OH MAN!  Guess I won’t win?  LOL- I had a good time complementing the other ladies, telling them what a great job they were doing.  I think allot of them needed that extra push, I know it helped me!

Finally with less than a mile left, it hit me…  Side stich cramp.  SHIT!!!!!!  I slowed down, pushed forward not up and finally had to walk to catch my breath.  It was then that a woman came up behind me and said "You can do it!  You are almost there, just push through it".  That was it, like a LIGHT went off.  I sucked it up and pushed it out.  I started passing ladies and WOW did it feel good!  Passed a 53 year old woman (yes, she was ahead of me for awhile!- It is AMAZING how fast those heavy bottom women are on the bike!) and got the the final stretch.  The cheers almost made me cry as I approached the finish line, they said my name and took my chip.  It was over.

Was it fun?  Uh, no not really.  Was it hard?  Yes, the hardest single thing I have EVER done in my life!  Would I do it again?  Ask me in a month!

Until Tomorrow,

Cya!

Entry 9- Tomorrow is the BIG day!

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Well, it is here already!  My first Triathalon ( and I am pretty sure last)!  I am in the first wave to hit the water at 7am.  It is a sprint, so it should take me just over an hour to complete.  Feeling good about it, still eating clean.  Was TOTALLY stressed out on my way to pick up my packet this afternoon and cheated with a trial size luna bar…  I was STARVING and could not get in home in time for my protein shake snack!  Oh well, it was not like I inhaled a bag of candy!  LOL- I have been SO good on my new clean eating lifestyle and workout regimine.

Today was my "off" day and I felt like  a slug!  I did have the opportunity to do some yardwork and YES take a NAP!  Raining here all day today and forecast calls for the same tomorrow.  Just hope it can hold off until 8:30!

Hope everyone is well, I will upload the video of the race on Sunday!

 Until tomorrow,

Cya!

Entry 8- What the #T^W am I crazy!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Ok, I have officially lost my mind…  My Triathalon is in less than 2 weeks so I am hitting the cardio like a wild woman..  I had totally forgotten that I joined beginnerstriathalon.com and posted looking for a riding group.  LOL- they contacted me today and said that they took my idea and formed a group, so of course I had to go meet them for a ride tonight!  Would not have been such a bad thing, nice evening, good company, all beginners (road bike)… HOWEVER I was feeling mighty hardcore AND had to get shoulders/abs day in too!!!  Worked myself to death and then rode almost 20 miles…

HOLY COW!  Wow, I should be looking like Pam Anderson in no time if I can keep this up!  Anyhew, we are meeting once a week on Wednesday now.  I will be there UNLESS it falls on Legs day, I won’t be trying that after my snafoo on Sunday!  LOL- It was certainly a butt kicker but I feel like I accomplished something!

Of course, I wrapped up and was STARVING!!  Oh, it would have been so easy to just drive by Chic Fillet or something but NO WAY JOSE!  Came home and microwaved my PREPARED chicken and vegis!  It is so much easier to eat clean when it is already ready and all I have to do is heat and eat!  It is "FAST FOOD" in a sense right?

Until tomorrow,

Cya

Entry 7- Planning for travel EEK!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Ok, I am so glad I called ahead!  I am going to a friends wedding out of town on Friday and I was FREAKIN about what to do and how to handle my new "clean" religion..  SO- I called the airline (my husbands great idea- he’s so smart!) and they said I can bring my own food as long as it is not liquid.  THEN to take it a step further, I called the bride to be and told her about my new found religion.  I just wanted to make sure she did not think I was being rude by not participating in the gluten fest…  She just laughed and said no problem.  Here is where the problem lies……. BOOZE!  So, I was thinking I could take some princess redline. HA, no liquid!  SO, guess it is diet coke for me!

Anyway, I am determined, destined and committed to staying on my journey to health and fitness through clean eating.  SO- I can do it!

If you have any suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them!

Until tomorrow,

Cya!

Entry 6- Sat. workout

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

HOORAY it’s Saturday!  Dont you hate it when you plan on sleeping in and something wakes you up??!!!  They are building a house next to ours and they were out there at 6:45am hammering and sawing…  SO- got up at 7 and had some breakfast (steel oats w/ soymilk, coffee and H2O).  Had my first cup of coffee all week!  I am SO used to adding the French Vanilla creamer (loaded w/ calories and bad stuff!) so I am coming off of that cold turkey!  This is the first week "anniversary" of my clean eating.  I feel REALLY good!  Went to my god-daughters birthday party (she turned 3) and had a blast!  She LOVES princesses and I, of course, am one!  lol- TONS of hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, ICE CREAM (my personal favorite!) and cake….  I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!  Not even a craving for it!  Ok, well the ice cream looked tempting.  BUT I have a goal and am so determined there is no way I am going to derail myself AGAIN!  I have done too much of that in the past.

Went to the gym first thing (ok, after coffee at 9) and did legs..  Worked them about 1 hour and did 20 minutes of sprints/recovery running on the treadmill…  Was reading allot about AB work and how you should not work them every day as not to overtrain and defeat the purpose…  HUMMMM…..  So, I did not do them today, I did yesterday.  I am off tomorrow (from training) BUT I am still training for my Tri so I will be on my bike for a 16-20 mile tour tomorrow..

Until tomorrow,

Cya!
