I must have gotten out of bed at least three times this morning and got right back in each time. It's been a long time since I have been sick or missed a training session. I felt this little itch in the back of my throat on Thursday. I was a little congested yesterday afternoon, and last night my head felt like it was 10 feet thick. Today I'm 28 days out from my next competition, and I'm forced to take an unplanned rest day.
The timing is actually good. My last few training sessions were getting tougher. That is a sure sign that I am approaching an overtrained state. I would have most likely needed to make some changes soon anyway. The extra day of rest may just do the trick. I wanted to do some light stretching, but it is all I can do to keep from jumping back in the bed right now. I think the best for today will be to slightly reduce calories and add a little chicken soup to the diet. Rest today and tomorrow. Hopefully back with the daily grind on Monday.
