I believe 2013 is going to be my best year yet. Why? Because I believe it is incredible that Jesus Christ, knowing all the sins I would commit, died for me (Romans 5:7-8). Because I believe it is beyond understanding that Jesus, being God, would take upon himself the strips that rightfully belonged to me so that I am healed (Isaiah 53:5). Because I believe it is impossible that Christ has risen from the dead (Ephesians 1:17-21). For if by faith you can accept the incredible, the beyond understanding, and the impossible from the Word of God, you will have found the path of the righteous. Those who are right with God. This year is going to be my best yet because I believe "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shinning ever brighter till the full light of day" (Proverbs 4:18).
Last year was just the dawn. The full light of day is still ahead of me. The day is becoming brighter and brighter. The truth that I saw dimly when I wrote this blog two years ago is much clear to me now:
The essence of what I saw dimly back then is found in Hebrews 12:2. For all who come with the heart of the returning prodigal son (see Luke 15:11-32), they will find 1,001 problems and concerns instantly become petty and melt away with the application of this one verse:
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfect of our faith..." Hebrew 12:2
The question is who or what are you going to exalt and allow to rule on the throne of your heart? Will you exalt money and the things it can buy? Will you exalt science and the natural laws of this world as we understand them? Will you exalt the self? Or will you exalt God above all?
"Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." Psalm 57:5
