The Magic Kingdom
I've been at Disney World in Orlando, Florida for the past few days. Park hopping with my family from sun up until way past sun down. So much to do here. No way to do it all, nor see it all in a few short days. If you've never been to Disney World it has everything, including bits and pieces from far away corners of the world, all in a metropolis of a super efficient amusement park system. As amazing as this place is, I still find myself missing the simplicity of my daily grind. All the lights, flash, smoke, and mirrors of this world certainly rank very high on the "wow" scale, but when you look behind the curtain there is really very little substance. This substance that is such a huge part of my daily grind, and given no place in this magic kingdom, is God.
They celebrate the Christmas season big time down here for no other reason than it pays. Every Disney park we went to was jammed pack with a sea of people spending fists full of money. It has been fun, but I'm so looking forward to getting back home to my daily grind. There comes a time when we all have to leave the magic of this world behind and go back home for eternity. That my friends, is actually what this whole season is about. This world and all that is in it will pass away. Get lost in the magic of this world, and you will be lost in the after life as well.
Take a few moments to be still and quiet. Contemplate the significance of God coming to earth in human form. To do for us what we could not do for ourselves. To save us from the death sentence on all of us born into the kingdom of this world. Regardless of what anyone else tries to sell you, or what magic they try to impress you with, this is and always has been the reason for Christmas.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
