Undaunted - Daily Grind #221
I failed to make the BodySpace Spokesmodel semifinals again this year. Nor was I selected for the Muscle and Fitness Cover Model contest. Totaling up 2012, I finished 5th twice, 2nd twice, 4th once, 6th once, and just last month with a 16th place tie for dead last at the Nationals. To be sure in this game of youth and performance enhancing drugs, I am not and don't use them, therefore I must represent the million to one long shot. Life has prepared me well for this though. I was born an underdog. I may be covered with scars, my face may be etched with character lines, yet I remain undaunted. "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:14) Over and over, time and time again, I've learned that the world cannot deny the one who will not quit forever. The harder I squeeze, the sweeter the sweat.
Daily Grind Thursday December 6, 2012
I've gotten stronger as the workouts this week have been easier than they were last week. Still chasing 100 reps per exercise. Today I bumped the squat weight up 20 pounds. Finished soaked, wet with sweat from the spin bike.
Warm-up
--Standing Drills #2
--Ropa Dope 10 Spot
Superset
--Squat 155 pounds, 10 sets of 10 reps each
--Crossbench Dumbbell Pullover 45 pounds, 10 sets or 10 reps each
Spin Bike 30 minutes and it never gets old
Total Workout time: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Workout Quality: A1. Feeling good. Really good. I am supremely thankful.
Bruce, continue to press forward! I was VERY surprised when I reviewed the "Top 20" male semifinalists today. It would seem that at some point, there may need to be an over 35 or 40 spokesmodel contest simply because, I and most of us over 40 really cannot relate to many of those who are being pushed forward to "represent" what "fitness" is supposed to look like. It is indeed "easier" when one is younger, but character is shown when those like you and I work hard, drug free, to build our physiques. Keep pushing forward. As long as you continue, you have an avid supporter. Hope that you and your family are well!
Only echo the comments above, the longer I am in this game as such the more I become a little more cynical.
Take it easy.
Nick.
Great outlook. Keep the faith! Hugs, Wendy
