Injury to my spinal cord & lower back

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

It sucks to have injury. And I sustained at the worst of the body - the spinal cord.

I was devastated to injure myself during my last day of my Japan trip. My injury is serious and sensitive to my overall well being. Just my luck to pick the very last day to let the injury exploded in front of me.

Refreshing my memory. I could barely walk and needed the luggage trolley to support my walkings. The pain of turning during sleep on my bed still lingers me. The pain as if a sharp nail had been pushed into my lower back while sitting. The sharp pain on my spine during my flight back from Osaka fleshed into my mind. My family has to pull up from bed, from my seat, etc.  These pain instances reminded me how life is so fragile sometimes.

I reminded myself while I am a healty living person in the 30s, I am not longer as invincible as I thought I was during my 20s.  I can no longer be so ignorant even the slightest scratch to my body.  Stress has entered into my sleep pattern.  With my wife currently pregnant, she has times when her sleep patterns disturb mine as well. The sleep disruption and stress become even evident then.

The injury couldn’t have at a worse possible time.  My sleep pattern is somewhat distorded, which makes my injury even more difficult to heal without proper rest.  I felt devastated not able to train in the gym.  And help my pregnant wife to do some houseworks.

During this injury, I noticed my lats, my legs and lower back are severed affected.  Lots of activities are affected.  I am not able to do some ironing on my clothes for too long.  My right lats would feel severely numb and a pain will drive through me painfully.

The moment the pain comes. It reminds me very much so that I am the 20s young adult as I used to be. It is very much saddening to me - when I can’t train for a few months.
