Another day

Thursday, October 29th, 2009
Laying here tonight, every night, feeling like a bag of broken body parts; I realize that there wasn’t much more I could have done to push forward. I suppose that’s why I’m content; knowing I did all I could for yet another day. 10 years and counting.

Compromises vs. Sacrifices

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

"Compromises" are great, but can’t hold a candle to "sacrifices". What did you think would happen when you are only willing to go half way to meet in the middle? Your dreams, the ultimate ones, will not budge or move an inch. If you want them, you will have to go the length.

With "compromises", you give some. With "sacrifices", you give all.

Give and Take

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Understand that this is not about your willingness to take anything, but your decision to give everything.

Staying Hungry

Friday, September 25th, 2009

"Staying hungry" is easy to say, but hard to do. The drive that led you from desperation to inspiration fades over time. So how do you stay hungry? Easy.. Starve from time to time. How you choose to do that, I leave up to  you.

More or Less

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I don’t know how to do more; I don’t know how to do less. The only thing I can do is continue doing everything I can, until I’m either more or less.

On the Verge

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

How do you know when you are on the verge of something? When the line is thin between "gaining everything you’ve ever wanted" and "everything you’ve ever cared about".

8/25

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Everyone gets his/her shot at success. Sometimes it comes early; sometimes it comes late. I dont’ know about you, but that’s the reason I train. Not for a big bench press, not for bragging rights in front of the gym rats, and not for the beach bunnies circling that indoor track. I train, because when that day comes, I will let nothing slip through the cracks.

If it takes a lifetime, then I will train for a lifetime. I have a lifetime to train. A lifetime of training is why my success will be earned, not handed. Training wheels, let me keep them.

Change is good. If not, why would we goto the gym at all? We go, indeed, to bring about change. We should, and do, embrace it. Change brings hope. Change is what brings us the infinite potential of tomorrow and the undeniable beauty of today.

I feel blessed that I am given the opportunity to goto the gym everyday. If I make progress, I take all the credit. If I fail, I get all the blame. How special is that? We are rewarded or punished purely as a result of our own doing. How many other circumstances in life gives us the chance to TRULY prove our abilities on our own without outside intervention/interference?

Home work vs. Test

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Too many people come to the gym clueless about what to do. An absent plan is the least of their worries, because many understand neither the function nor the mechanics of basic exercise moves. Guys, knowing what you are going to do is your home work, which means these are things you figure out before you step in the gym, not on site. Without a proper plan, it’s no wonder most fail to execute. After all, how can you execute anything without knowing what it is you are trying to accomplish?

The gym session is like your test day. Sure, you can ask around to see what kind of pencil you should use or where to turn the paper in afterwards, but the big preparations SHOULD have been made before the testing begins. Not knowing what you are going to do in the gym is like not knowing the topic of the test prior to stepping in the room. Both are equally laughable.

It’s just that simple

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I’ll keep this blog short.

"I’m not afraid of the man who practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I am afraid of the man who practiced 1 kick 10,000 times." -Bruce Lee

I am a product of repetition. Repetition + consistency + time = discipline. Where does discipline take you? Many many places, my friends. There is nothing magical. I apply the same equation to everything I do. Block by block. It’s how the great pyramids were built, afterall.
