The ignorance of some people

November 13, 2009

Just wanted to share a little information about me with anyone that bothers to read these things .  Through the ten years that I have been lifting weights, I have been accused of using steroids and other illegal substances to "enhance" my physique.  At first I was like, just ignore it, its a compliment, they’re just jealous, etc, etc.  I was notified that there was a blog on a forum were some random schmuck posted a picture of ME and asked if anyone knew me and if they thought or could tell if I was on steroids.  The ignorance of people never seems to amaze me. Thats all I will say about that. I would like to let anyone know that has ever been like, "that guy juices" that I have NEVER used steroids or any other illegal substances. I have never done any drugs and in fact i have never taken a puff from one cigarette in my ENTIRE LIFE.  That is something I am extremely PROUD of by the way. There are two reasons that I have never used them. 1) Because I dont need them to enhance my physique, I think I have done a pretty damned good job thus far. And 2) I am so afraid of needles that I would pass out before I got the tip [of the needle] in my ass, thigh or where ever you are supposed to inject steroids. True story!  Anyway, here is the link to the forum, I really hope that one or more of you that is reading this, was not responsible for posting ignorant remarks.  Go to:

My comment is the last one.  Thanks for taking time to read this.

Welcome!

May 18, 2009

Ok this is my first blog.  Let me first start off by telling you a little bit about me and how I got to where I am at this current point in time. My name is Ward and I was in the bodybuilding/fitness modeling industry for a few years.  I have been training for over ten years now.  With experience comes things that we cant help no matter how safe we are and how perfect our form is.   When you lift heavy weights, you run the risk of injuring your self.  I am living proof of this.  In Sep of 2007 I had finally gotten to the magical weight of 190 lbs, (if you know me, then you know this was no easy feat)I was starting to book magazines and other print work.  I was eating 8 large meals a day, each meal consisting of 35-40 grams of protein, 85-90 grams of carbs, and about 5-10 grams of fats. I was training harder than I had ever trained in my life and pushing myself to limits I didnt think were possible.  I packed on some serious muscle on my small frame.  Then one day while performing deadlifts going pretty heavy for me (405, I was on my sixth rep) I heard a pop and my back immediately began to tighten.  I stopped my workout and sought a doctor the very next day.  Im not going to go into detail of all the boring visits to massage therapists and to chiropractors, but after about 6 months and 32 pounds later, I was able to start training again. Yes I dropped from 190lbs to 158 lbs.  I was sick and depressed and just a mess. Over the last year I was able to get my weight back to around 180-182 and maintain that.  Well that was until this past weekend.  I somehow injured my back again and this time I have two herniated discs.  My guess is the one from last time is reinjured and now a new one.  It sucks, soo much!  I try and I try and I devote so much time effort and money into my chosen lifestyle only to be ridiculed by injuries.  Well reguardless of how much it sucks, I am not going to let it get me down this time.  I will not be depressed and sad and let this injury take away my spirit.  I will work extra hard on making sure that I recover fully and I will get back in the gym.  My goal being this time tho, to maintain a safe and healthy lifestyle.  I just wanted to share this with everyone that choses to read it and hopefully, if you have to recover from an injury, you too will remain focused, motivated and determined to reach those goals that you have set, as well as any new ones.  Thanks!
