WOW! I had no idea, how hard it is to train for a competition. I have to admit, there are some days I ask myself what am I doing? But then a voice inside keeps telling me that I am doing this for me and I push myself a little harder. This week for some reason maybe it’s PMS but I was just not into my workouts. I did them but just not with heart. Some weeks when I’m working out I try to lift a little heavier and see what I can do but this week, I found myself just wanting to get done. Maybe it’s the long cardio sessions mentally burning me out. I’m not sure? I know that I am making some good progress so I am going to continue. I’m going to get some rest and start strong on Monday. Have a great weekend! Good luck with all your fitness goals and when you think you can’t, always know YOU CAN!!!

1. Do not stand and do squats (or any exercise for that matter) with your back in front of a mirror especially when you see someone in front of that mirror performing exercises on a bench and looking at their form in the THAT mirror. RUDE! One should note that if you continue to be ignorant and are getting mad dog looks from the person still trying to finish their workout not to mention they were there first facing the mirror correctly and you were the rude one with no tact or etiquette. Keep this up, and you are likely to get a dumbbell to the head. (I was tempted).
2. If you go into a cardio room, please ask before changing channels and if you do change the channel than at least watch the channel you switch it to, and not read newspapers, magazine, or books.
These two things happend to me the last couple days and who knows I may have more in the future?… I try to be a positive person, but sometimes, when you are in serious training for a competition or even not, gym time is precious. We need to treat each other with respect. I was going to say something to both these people but I decided to say nothing and leave with grace and chalk it up to ignorance. Afterall I hear it bliss?
Have a great week everybody.

Two weeks into pre-comp. training and I started new diet last week. Training is going well, I think? The diet is killing me but if my coach told me to eat dirt six times a day I would do it… that is how dedicated and focused I am. So yeah, I’m exhausted and brain dead but I am confident in the end when I get on stage with my amazing, and stunning physique I will be smiling big time not because I have to, but because it was worth it.
Follows your dreams, sets goals, go for it, and have no regrets!!!

This is my first comp. I keep doing research when I have time. I started part of my new training today and it kicked me in the ass. Gotta love it. Anyway, somedays I have doubt that I will be ready in time. I look at some of the pros wanting to be like them and feeling miles away from that level. I realize they have been training their whole life and then you have someone like me who wants to look like that with a full time job. It may not happen over night it never does, but it will, someday? I am going to give it my all… I love the days where I feel confident and like, I can do this and win… I need to keep that attitude a constant.
I just got this email from a friend and in the subject line, it read- "The art of life" so I opened it and it was a quote that I am going to share since the timing seems so perfect.
” You may be disappointed if you fail,
but you are doomed if you don’t try “~ Beverly Sills ~
I took it as a sign to GO FOR IT with everything I have. It also reminded me of a book I read a few years ago called, “The Unmistakable Touch of Grace” and the one thing I got from that book is that God is constantly sending us messages and signs if we just open our eyes and see them. I love the message!
Have a great week, train hard and you will achieve your goal. Attitude is EVERYTHING!

Training is going great! I think? Anyway, I didn’t have time for cardio today so instead brought a jump rope to the gym with me and I wanted to jump rope 100 times in between exercises. Okay so I got to the gym started jumping rope and made it to a 50 count, not the 100 I was hoping. I was so wiped. I then did dumbbell press, then did giant set of barbel front lat raise, side lat raise, and shrugs, in addition to a few other exercises. I did keep the heart rate up. However, I need to work on the jump rope. I think once I do it consistantly, it will be awesome to incorporate. Oh and this was kinda exciting for me, yesterday a guy at the gym told me I build like a champion. I took that as a great compliment.
Have a great weekend.

I just wanted to share a quote I read out of the new MET-RX magazine I got in the mail today. This quote is from Frank Sepe’s Editor’s note: "I WANT YOU TO MAKE A PROMISE TO YOURSELF THIS YEAR, DESPITE ALL THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING AROUND YOU, THAT YOU WILL MAKE POSITIVE STRIDES IN YOUR HEALTH." This quote hit home for me and I want to share with all of you. We may not be able to control the all the things going on in our life but we can control what we put in our mouth for food (fuel) and if we choose to workout or make an excuse not too. I know that I am in control my health and making amazing strides in 2009, are you?
Have a great week!

Okay so I knew this would happen? I ran out of my SuperPump yesterday and I ordered more from BodyBuilding.com because I will have it by tomorrow, they are super fast and I will get it way before I make time to go down to my supplement store. Anyway, so I still needed something for that extra push and strength today and then I found these samples I got in the mail from ProMera. It’s a creatine supplement called Con-Cret. OMG! LOVED it!!! I took one pill an hour before my workout and I had the strength and extra push I needed to get through my workout. It was perfect and a future purchase for sure!
I did chest and triceps today, nothing exciting just dumbbell press, dumbbell flyes, overhead extentsions with dumbbell, cable push down with straight bar, rope push down, and 20 minutes of cardio. Boring I know but I felt stronger and had a good workout. Tomorrow Glute and ab day. Yey!
Have a great day!

Training hard what does that mean to people? Well to me it means putting in your BEST efforts. It means not letting anything keep me from getting into the gym. It means if I can do one more rep, then I will do it even if my face looks like I may pop a forehead vein. It means constantly trying to lift heavier than I did last week. It means stay focused on the goal no matter what because that goal WILL be turned into reality by TRAINING HARD, and eating clean.
Diet is HUGE!!! I can train like a freak… and I love that expression (thank you BSN)… but if I eat bad, than all my hard work doesn’t mean a thing. Luckily for me, I like eating clean… it’s easy for me, well it’s a habit. I don’t know any other way.. Okay, when I do occassionally cheat (because we all do… birthdays, holidays, etc) my stomach hurts, it’s not pretty and not worth it.
I’m changing up my routine this year, no excuses it all on me. I am more glute and ab focused than ever before. Last year even though I ate clean, I did not get in the gym as much as I would of liked. I let personal things upset me and used it as an excuse not to work out. Well not this year! I am not letting ANYTHING take away my "me" time (GYM TIME)! I am so determined! I have amazing fitness friends who motivate me and keep me in check. I just updated my routine and I am positive that I will reach my goals.
The mind is a powerful tool and we all should use it. Let’s not get sucked into things we can not change and let’s change the things we can… like our attitude and frame of mind. No we can’t change the economy over night or any other despressing story we hear it the news or may have going on in our lives. I have decided to tune it all out because, in my mind, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and I choose to think about the positive things I can do and change. No one can change your body, and there is NO magic pill! Even celebrities have to eat a good diet and workout and Oprah is a great example. So, make up YOUR mind to change and be a better you. ONLY YOU can give this amazing gift to yourself and YOU will be glad you did.
Happy Monday. I hope you all have a great week!
P.S. I did back, biceps, and triceps today then ended with some abs and some intense cardio. I’ll keep you posted and "maybe" post progessions later this year. :)
