Changes

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Only a month into this game and small differences are making huge impacts on my motivation.  This week has been hard, with it being that time of the month the scale has been showing the excess water weight I have been carrying.  Thank God that is finally done!

Last week I was able to get into a pair of shorts that haven’t fit since last summer, and yesterday I was able to fit into a dress that just a few shorts weeks ago I couldn’t zip up…and it is a SIZE 14!!!!!  That makes me want to jump and down.  Or better yet, go lift something heavy!

The gains in the gym are amazing as well!  I’m getting so much stronger, especially during my squats and arm work out.  My trainer and I were even able to up some of my weights during my chest/back day which I formally referred to as "torture day"  For the first time in my life I’ve been able to do a push up, and I can do 10 "girlie" push-ups where as I used to collapse after 2 or 3!

I’m loving this life!

Eating Clean, sore muscles, and great support.

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I never thought that I would have problems trying to eat 6 small meals a day, but wow, wake up call!  I’m slowly learning to like foods that I wasn’t a big fan of before(who seriously eats tuna fish without mayo?) and I’m preparing enough food to feed an army.  Sometimes I’m finding it hard to keep up with all the dishes I’m creating, and I know that is driving my mom crazy!  As well as changing how I eat, I started taking a whey protein powder 2 or 3 times a day not only to help with my protein intake, but also to help with increase of strain on my muscles.  Surprisingly, it doesn’t taste anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I’d even go as far as to say that I like the way the strawberry flavor tastes!

My body is still getting used to the increase in physical activity and I’m usually sore the day after I work my arms/chest/back.  Those muscles that I didn’t know I had are starting to show some promise.  My trainer is giving me the motivation I need, and we have even increased some of the weights during my arms workout.

I think most importantly is the motivation I have gained from the people I have met on here and at the gym.  I’m sure any goal seems reachable when you have so many people behind you pushing you towards it.  I sincerely thank everyone who has answered my questions/stopped by my page to leave some encouragement/or has pushed me in anyway towards a better me!

I’m holding steady at 4 pounds lost so far, and it is a personal struggle of mine to not step on the scale everyday!  I’ve only been in this for about a month, so I’m satisfied with 4 pounds.  I know I can’t measure my success based just on my weight and that many other factors play a part, but I can’t help but smile when I see that needed on the scale slowing creeping away from 200.  Hopefully soon enough I will get some courage and post some pictures on here of the "before" me so I can have some basis of comparison!

Progress as of 6/21

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Less than three weeks into my training to become improved and I’m already seeing great changes!  I’ve been hitting the gym six days a week for about two hours a day and while I’m definitely doing some major cardio, I’m also becoming more experienced with weight training thanks to the awesome staff at LA Fitness!

I’m already down four pounds (which is a lot for me!) and am continuing to push myself each day to do better than the day before.  My trainer has helped tremendously and I’ve already upped my number of weekly training sessions with him from one or two to three or four!  He gives me the extra push that I need when I feel like I can’t get to the end of a set (especially when it comes to arms)!

I’ll be taking some photos later in the week to start tracking my progress!
