My Difficult Challenge…

Friday, May 15th, 2009

In my last blog I mentioned about how when I always get halfway there, I have a setback. I had a big set back this time, but I’m posting this blog because I pushed so hard and made it through.. just a big sense of pride.

About a week and a half after my first evaluation I got into a big car accident and had a short term memory loss for about a week or so, and some soft muscle tissue damage around my neck and back, as well as minor brain swelling. My car was absolutely totaled. Besides being pissed that I no longer had a car (which I had just bought 3 months ago, so it was practically brand new), I was really upset because I was working so hard towards my goal and I wasn’t physically able to continue. After my cat scan and back x rays I waited about a week or so for the medication to make the swelling go down. I had a consultation with my doctor a few more times after that to make sure there was no perminent damage with the brain injury, and then I started to slowly get moving again.

As painful a process as it was (I could barley walk), I grabbed my swim suit and went to the gym to do my physio excersizes in the salt water pool. After a few days of swimming I grabbed a trainer and did some low impact routines, my muscles started to losen up around my back and neck and now I am right back where I left off. I’m back to 5-6 days a week and almost back to twice a day (I"ll be back to that by next week).

This is my challenge, and I’m stoked to say- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! No more barriers, work with the mind and the body will follow!

My life change…

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

When I first joined this site, I was working out at my college gym in my last year of college trying to shed the freshman 15. I’m now engaged, and finished college last week… my freshman 15  is simply still there. I have lost 5 pounds, been injured, gained it back. My college gym membership is no longer valid. SO. Rather than using that as an excuse to stop, I bought a membership at Extreme Fitness, it is now my #1 priority to lose this weight and tone up. I went to my body evaluation and updated my stats on the website. I now weigh 136.5 lbs. I almost cried when I heard that number. To a lot of people that sounds like nothing, but to me.. thats 16.5 lbs above what I want to weigh and look like.

Over the coarse of this month, I have hopes to lose 5lbs. It’s really hard for me to lose weight because I am smaller and every pound I lose is as difficult as some people find that "last ten pounds".  Either way, I’m hitting the gym twice a day on average for 5-6 days a week. I’m trying to fully transform my body. In a month I have another evaluation to see what my body fat percentage is. This is taking all of me, and it’s going to be one of my biggest projects and accomplishments. This is my life change.

Welcome!
