Not to be dramatic or anything..but someone please console me :(
I just posted new pictures, and I thought I would see way more definition that I have…Maybe not in the abs so much, but I thought I was really putting some muscle on my legs….I guess it is true what they say…you can’t gain and get lean at the same time….I will be filing that under "lesson learned"..the hard way–I am going to pout, pick myself up, dust myself off and get myself a new game plan! Should I enlist some help? I just dont trust ANYONE…..especially at my GYM!! UGH!

OK, If you look at your picture you have leaned out and your hip flexor is showing more definition, Who ever said that you can’t gain Muscle and lean out doesn’t know how to train hard and get both results. Keep training hard and you will get the results you desire!! Happy thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.

Don’t stress out! This stuff takes time and lots of work. Once you start seeing the big changes, you’ll be happier than ever. Get on the forums and ask questions, just stay out of the MISC section, lol. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about gaining muscle just yet. Lift weights, but concentrate on cardio more. That’s how I lost all my weight, I just ran and ran and put weights on the back burner.

Easy blue print for muscle gaining: 1. Bulk 2. Lift to fully exhaust the target muscle 3. Allow said exhausted muscle plenty of time to repair. Biggest mistakes made trying to build muscle: 1. Overtraining 2. Not eating enough….And yep, as you now know, unless you are on the meds, you can’t build muscle and lean at the same time.

First off, I am a personal trainer and I am nowhere near your gym so if I can help let me know.
Secondly you look great. Don’t expect to get to look like those athletes you see in competition photos because they lean-up just before that. If your goal is to gain muscle definition then you will have to pack on some muscle at first, then when you feel you have had enough, turn up the cardio, reduce the weights, and increase the reps/set.
Your dedication is paying off, so if you haven’t tried those things I just mentioned, give them a try. On the other hand, if you are already doing them, be patient, you will get there sooner than you think.
Keep the faith

eat more than your required calories to bulk. And cardio up to remove some fat gain.

I can definitely see the added muscle from the first to last pick. Especially in your legs. You are improving, there is no question. It is tough to look through some of the pictures on this site and not feel like you should be improving more. I think you are looking amazing, and have made good progress. Keep up the good work.

in my opinion… i HATE when people say your hot for… in my case it is usually followed by "with someone with two kids." no damn it. i’m hot. and your hot! plain and simple. p.s. you might want to have your eyes checked… being 35 and all b/c i can totally see more definition in your legs!!!

While you have learned a valuable lesson that it is difficult if not impossible to gain size while cutting up, you should not the positives. You have gained far more definiton in your entire abdominal cavity. Your legs are showing the seperation of the vastus medialis and vastus lateralis. Now you are sitting far better to gain size bc if you train and eat for size in the end it will be far easier to lean back down and then you will notice size gains at the same bf%. When judging yourself you have to compare apples to apples otherwise you’ll drive yourself crazy in every phase of training.
