Good news!

I finally had my orthopedic appointment this morning. I will not need surgery at this time but I will need about six weeks of physical therapy. I am allowed to resume cycling, walking and hiking at slow speeds. I can do adduction and abduction leg machine exercises only. No leg curls, glute kickbacks or leg presses until I get clearance in two months at my follow up. The doctor feels that my hamstring muscles are inflamed possibly from my own misuse of them. I have been very lax about stretching before strength training. I also have a slight hip dysplsia but nothing too severe to be concerned about. The tear in the hip socket is small and he won’t operate on it because it isn’t causing my main symptoms. I was supposed to go to the gym to do chest, back and abs but I hardly slept last night. I’m also going to be alot more careful in the future about working out fatigued or without a proper stretching session.

A few more days…

I’m very anxious to see the orthopedic surgeon. I haven’t done any cardio because I wanted to get clearance on the hip first. I’m not really scared about what the doctor will say. If he wants to operate on my left hip then I will get it done ASAP. I also need my right knee done too at some point. Maybe I can get a twofer? I’d rather be incapacitated during the winter then the spring or summer anyway. I’ve been doing alot of sprucing up on myself lately. Tonsils out, wisdom tooth out, lips enhanced and botox around my eyes. I’m all for looking and feeling better these days. I do have to go to the gym tonight. I slacked off last night at the last minute from my bicep, tricep and abs routine. I think I still hadn’t recovered from a singing gig I did on Saturday night.

Excellent Hot Chocolate

I have been enjoying the benefits of one to two cups of hot chocolate a day. I make it using the following:

8 oz fat free milk
2 tbs of Hershey’s Unsweetend Cocoa
dash of salt and two equal packets

You microwave the milk for 1 minute and 15 seconds then stir it a bit at a time into the dry powder, equal and salt. It actually has alot of health benefits and gives you a sweet guilt free and fat free treat. Read the article at the link below to learn more about the benefits of chocolate.

The bloat is gone and so is my nasty attitude! I’m ready to work on my chest, back and abs tonight. Ate pretty good today but need to improve on amount of protein grams per day. Gotta figure something out!

What a lovely day i’ve had! I’ve been eating from all the important PMS food groups: Chocolate, excess salt, saturated fat and plain ol’ sugar! Well at least i’m not missing my workouts. My weight is stable but my body is bloating like Violet from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. On top of everything else I am late! I’m late! For a very important date! So I have that to add to my worry list…

I’m kind of stuck with the modified workouts for now until I either get clearance from the orthopedic specialist next week or he gives me further restrictions and a surgery date for my hip if he finds I need an operation. I know I need something done to my right knee as well. It clicks, snaps and I can’t lift anything over 40 pounds of leg presses and that isn’t gonna cut it if I want to eventually compete down the line. I hope this sucky salty, sweet craving goes away soon too! I’ve been eating so much tuna with adobo in the last 3 weeks that I’ve grown gills. It reminds me of my great tuna binge of 1991 in which I ate a can of tuna every day for about three months. I have been using unsweetened cocoa to make hot chocolate. I add two equal to make it drinkable. Ehhhhhhh what else??? Nada I guess.

10:45 PM I took a break from whining and went to the gym to work on legs, abs and delts.

The minor miracle of lemon water

I lost 4.5 pounds overnight by drinking 2 liters of water with one lemon in it. Whoohoo! My fingers have lost their sausage shape and I am even breathing better this morning. I overdid it on the salt in the last month which led to water retention.

I am so irritable today that I am ready to bite the head off of a living bat. I am super pmsing this month. Too much salt intake this month and way too much sugar in the last week. I’m still in the game though! I’ll be doing biceps, triceps and abs today. I wonder if I get my weight down to normal  If I will still suffer with horrible PMS. Maybe I will have less of the undesirable female traits the more muscular I get. LOL. It sure would be a welcome relief from being a super crab.

I did workout tonight on legs abs and delts but I drank at this party and I ate food and chips. I’ll redeem myself tommorow with a session in the sauna, 12 glasses of water and a session of water aerobics!

4:30 AM UGH! Now I remember why I don’t drink! Bedspins and being sick to my stomach!

I’ve been having a few bad days. I’m in one of my anxious mood states when everything annoys me. I’ve been yelling at bad drivers, fighting with rude strangers and just feeling like a fish out of water. I need something to break this spell. This song never fails to lift me up:

Skin Brushing

I wanted to talk a bit about skin brushing. I just started doing this over the last month to help with some skin looseness issues that I am having on my legs. You need to buy a natural bristle brush and do upward strokes on your skin starting from your toes and fingertips towards the heart. You can concentrate on areas of looseness on the thighs and stomach for five to ten minutes. I notice that the "lumpiness" on my thighs is much better and the skin has retracted over the outer thighs. I also make sure to drink alot of water before and after to promote flushing of waste products that sometimes get caught in the tissues of the outer thighs.
