Wow…that’s what I call a workout

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

I finally manged to start the new program…and they’re right, changing things has totally hurt, big time!!!  I can barely lift my arms!  everything was shaky in the gym to the point where I went to scoot down on the mat to do the abs, my arm almost colapsed out from under me!  Woot, I’m excited…it’s been a long time since I’ve felt my body ache and my muscles jiggle, even with adding tons of weight.  :) :) :)

New Year, New Workout!

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Good news! They post the workouts a couple of days ahead of time.  Woohoo!

Scary news:  They’re doing free weights on a weight bench with a bar and we don’t have that in the girly section.  So I’m trying to figure out how to modify!  :)   :) It’s probably for the best if I use dumbells instead of the bar for now because isn’t that bar quite heavy?  I have a funny feeling that I’d hit failure during the bar warmup!  LOL  :)

We usually we do weights on Sun, Tue, Thurs…but my workout buddy decided we should to the weights Monday because we can’t go swimming (just got new tats a couple of weeks ago…new ink trumps anything with chlorine!)  So that’s the plan…weights tomorrow.  I’ll still do my running after work at like 1:00 then we’ll do weights around 6:00.  There should be more than enough time to recover between the two.

So, I’m all measured and calipered (I kinda get the same measurement when I do it…I hit on 30/31 like 8 out of 10 times, the other two; one was 40, but then I noticed the moving thing was catching on the skin and moving it up; the other was like 24, which would be nice, but I seriously doubt!  So I’m going with 30mm.  It’s hard hitting the same spot everytime, gives me something to work on.)

Not much else to say today, I have to confess that doing something new, entirely new, makes me a bit nervous.  I’ve been doing the BFL style for over a year!  and it’s comfortable.  Obviously, it’s time for a change.  Both of us need to get of this plateau we hit about 8 months ago!

New Year, New Workout.

LOL  just entered my measurements…well it’ll be good for my ego!  I’m all bloaty this morning…teehee…had salty food last night at my Moms xmas party (she works nights, so her shift didn’t get to go to the original)  My weight was 230.5 yesterday morning and today it was 236.5…so you know it’s salty water retention!  teehee  oopsie.  :)   :)   :) hmmmm…guess I shouldn’t even be tracking this stuff if I want to focus on progress instead of body size…hmmmmm.  oh well, can’t hurt, can it?

Finally Broke down

Friday, May 30th, 2008

And hired a dietician.  My workouts have been steady since last Oct. and I’ve seen definite gains in strength, endurance and health…but darn it, I haven’t dropped an inch since last November!  I’m hoping this lady will be able to help me get on the right track.  We’re starting with a 6 meal plan of, 1900 calories, 50% Carb, 25% Protein and 25% Fat.  So far, I’ve been 4 days in a row with breakfast and I’ve managed to eat all but one or two of the meals.  It’s actually an accomplishment for me.  I used to not eat until around 4:00pm.  I simply wasn’t hungry.  She said this was normal because I managed to train my body not to be hungry.  So now we’re training it to be hungry in the morning and less so at night.  As a motivation to eat breakfast everyday, I have a picture of a Sumo Wrestler on the mirror in my bedroom with the caption "Did you Eat Breakfast Today?" to remind me to force myself to break the habit of not eating…turns out Sumo Wrestlers don’t eat until supper time too…explains why I can’t shed the fat…some loopy starvation/storing calorie thing…yikes.
I’m happy I’m working with her.  We’re going to try this plan for a month, re-evaluate and adjust until I find something that works with my body.
Whew, I feel like hope is finally here.

New Year, New Goals

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I have my workouts down, three days of lifting and three days of aerobics and one day off… classic body for life workout plan.  It’s really fun and I love the social interaction as well as the wobbly muscle feeling afterwards.

My main focus now is to get my diet working for me.  I need to eat 5-6 small meals, a task I find so hard, but, this week, I finished a week of eating 5 meals a day!  Well, except for Wed when my preworkout meal consisted of a small turkey pepperoni and a bottle of water after not eating for 7 hours, but still, Woohoo!

Week 9 done

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

What a week…major stress, major body stuff and I have to say I turned to chocolate!  I can’t get my upper body increasing weights, but my legs are increasing steadily…woohoo!  I’ll keep chipping away at my upper body and try to focus on getting that stronger.  I have 3 weeks until round one is done.  and I’m very excited that I’ve made it this far and I’ll make it through to the end of the year easily ….even with the xmas holidays.  Chris has been a great support and she is making amazing steps in her body/fat loss and overall confidence… you can really see results…of course I can’t see my own because we’re blind to our own bodies…but I can really see a difference around my chest bone when I’m doing my bicep curls.

So far, So good!

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

I just finished my 8th week of steady workouts, and I feel great!

I’m loosing inches by the pound…but I’m not losing any pounds.  I hear this is OK because I’m replacing fat with muscle… I started at 140 lbs of lean and I estimate that I’m at 155 lbs of lean which means that I’ve lost a total of 16 lbs of fat so far!  Woohoo!  Now that feels like an accomplishment.

The best part?  I can fit into one of my favorite dresses!  Last time I tried it on, if was so tight I couldn’t pull it over my head, I felt so sad and angry with myself.  But now I’m happy and no longer taking it out on myself!  Thanks a big bunch to my workout buddy!  :)
