My rest day and enjoying kisses from the sun

I was itching to go to the gym this morning but decided to honour my plan to rest today and enjoy our garden.

So, I woke up, had two cups of hot water with lemon and a cup of green tea. Cooked oats, which should last for 3 days and boiled some eggs.We had breakfast in the garden, it looks beautiful (it is Spring time in South Africa and I love Spring because it symbolises the time of rebirth, hope and love. Our garden brings me joy and happiness and the colours are bright and fresh.

We had landscapers at the beginning of the year, I convinced hubby last year not to go for a family holiday (we planned to go to Thailand) and do the garden instead, we went to France (2006), Egypt (2005), Zambia and Zimbabwe (2004) and I broke the "family tradition" for a magical garden - a very worthwhile investment :) - he wasn’t too happy at the time but we both love the garden now.

Everything is in full bloom and I am having fun, taking great pictures of all the cacti, different bird species attracted to the garden and the new nests the have built. The sun IS showing its delightful face almost every day, the opportunities for outdoor activities are endless…THANK YOU NATURE, THANK YOU LIFE, THANKS FOR SHOWING YOUR BEAUTY

Food, glorious food

I am a lover of food and a domestic Goddess, I love to entertain and always expect feedback. My mother-in-law also thinks that I am the best cook and they all love it. So I am forever playing in the kitchen, or planning meals and thinking of exciting things to make that will make you feel like an angel has just kissed your tongue.

My mind is made up about Tofu, I honestly don’t like, its texture - although it is a power food for my system so I eat it just because it is good for me. As I was organising the fridge yesterday, I had an inspiring thought from seeing all the ingredients in the fridge and they were all ready (I prepare most of my meals 3 days in advance and keep them in tupperwares, so that I can see what’s inside)

So, I mixed the following ingredients:

Black beans, Tofu, green beans, asparagus, brocolli, mixed peppers (yellow, red, green), garlic, ginger, mixed herb spices and served with tobasco sauce and olive oil. The dish looked beautiful and it was bursting with flavour and I really enjoyed it. My 3-year old thought that it was delightful.

A girl has gotta feed her muscles…

When I celebrated my 30th birthday this year, I asked my friends and family to buy me supplements instead of the usual stuff -I love candles and other smellies but since my lifestyle change, they are not my fave fave anymore…So I made a list of supplements I wanted and that’s exactly what I got. My birthday was in June and I have not bought anything else other than protein (my husband always helps himself to mine) and that has been COOL and I have saved thousand of rands because supps particularly international brands have been so expensive because of the rand/dollar exchange. Maybe you should try that next time you have a do, then you know you will get something that you will use

Group training.. Suprisingly FUN

I have been working out for two years now and I was never really interested in “group classes”, thought they were a bit “girlie”. Today, one of my buddies (a very nice lady I have met at the gym, who is also very curious about my transformation) asked me to join in the Body Conditioning Class. I had a well thought out plan which I wrote at the beginning of the week mind you :)  I thought to myself why not? To cut a long story short, I attended the class -Body Conditioning (Def) Improve strength and definition. It also focuses on posture, flexibility, balance and body alignment - BOY I was suprised that I actually enjoyed it and it was challenging. The class lasted 1h15min and I was totally drenched, PUMPED and was starved.
I came home, had half cup egg whites blended with oatbran, strawberries and cinnamon (cooked like a pancake) YUMMY :)  
The Body Conditioning class is on every Saturday, and I am definetely going to do it again next week, will keep you posted on developments.
