Need some guidance on supplements

April 5, 2007

I’ve been reading tons of information as well as seeking advice from several nutritionists but it seems that I’m getting a spectrum of contradicting information.  No doctor I’ve consulted had any particular opinion.  I would assume many of you guys have experience beyond the ‘GNC consultant’ and other, so I really would appreciate if someone could give me some guidance as to what I’m doing.

Here is my daily intake:

Morning:  (Mainly for the generation of Glutathione)

1.5 grams of L-Carnosine

600mg N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine

300mg Alpha Lipoic Acid

200mg CoQ10

70mg Milk Thistle

Multi-Mineral (ex. Iron) Supplement (1 pill)

25g Whey Protein (shake)

Mid-Day:

1.5g L-Carnosine 300mg Alpha Lipoic Acid

70mg Milk Thistle

Night:

2g L-Arginine, 2g-Proline, 2g-L-Glutamine, 2g-Ornithine, 1g-Lysine  (My HGH Secretagogue Coctail),  1.5g L-Carnosine, 300mg Alpha Lipoic Acid, 70mg Milk Thistle

25g Whey Protein

Workout Days:  Additional intake

Pre-Workout:  2G L-Carnitine + Table-Spoon of Twinlabs Liquid Amino Fuel

Post-Workout:  Same

There have been some results in lean mass, and decrease in body-fat.  However, since I added so many moving parts together, it is impossible to localize which supplement seems to be the core factor.

On one hand I have read that mos of the listed aminos are safe up to 10-30 grams, while other reports are talking about on/off cycles, potential strain on liver/kidneys, etc.

It’s been about 2 months.  Side effects are:

Slightly bad temper, less required sleep, definitely improved recovery from soreness.

I am currently participating in a semi-intense program to become a licensed Krav-Maga instructor by August.  This does come with a lot of injury and exhaustion parallel to my 3-4 times/week of lifting.
