Career Fair Etiquette
We recently attended a Career Fair here in Boise for two days and afterwords I was left with a few thoughts that I wanted to share.
A) Do not walk up to a booth and say, "Bodybuilding.com huh… Do you guys have a website or something?"
This is equivalent to going up to the Marine’s booth and asking if they are some sort of military branch. Common sence folks!
B) When you walk up to a booth and the host asks, "What are you looking for in a career" do not say "Ill take anything. I just need a job."
The second you say this, you have lost my attention. It does not say you are a driven and motivated individual. It tells me you will be saying that to a lot of booths and wont be getting many calls back.
C) My last point and the one I stress the most is: Dress Accordingly!
Showing up in a jean skirt w/ cowboy boots and a tie die shirt will make you stand out. But not in the way you want to stand out. Same as if you show up with your Nascar hat, a wife beater and cut off jeans w/ (yet again) cowboy boots. Is this how you would dress to a job interview? A job fair is essentially a 5 min job interview.
What are some other points we should recognize before going to a job fair?

Do you mean that if I show up wearing my Guns and Roses shirt, cut offs while drinking an Old Milwaukee that wouldn’t go over too well?
