Cutting, phase 1…over

January 10, 2009

…did not go as planned.  Cardio was weak, at best.  I think I got on the treadmill twice, the stair-step machine once in the past 3 weeks.  My diet *improved,* although it had its weak moments.  Overall, I lost 6 pounds.  I blame my insane metabolism..I probably shouldn’t have lost any weight at all.  But then I remember just how much I had to FORCE myself to eat in order to get up to 212.  Any step back to normal and the weight just falls off….just wish it looked better, and that these love handles were gone ><

Oh well….one week break from the animal cuts, and then I’m back on it.  Phase 2 begins 17 Jan, and hopefully I will be able to re-double my efforts.

I need motivation ><

December 31, 2008

I’m only 11 days into the cutting portion of my workout, and its been rocky at best.  Yes, I’ve lost 4-5 lbs, but I only attribute it to my insane metabolism (You should have seen how much I had to eat, and just how much of it was junk in order to gain only 10 lbs!).  I haven’t been lifting, doing cardio, or anything.  I’ve been snacking on crap (m&m’s, kit kats, etc…not often, but I shouldn’t be at all) as well as playing WAY too much World of Warcraft…yeah, I’m a nerd.

I think I just need something to motivate me.  I could definitely do cardio before work and lift right after work, but I never seem to "feel like it."  If anybody’s got any tips, fire away.  I’m going to force myself to workout tonight, but its getting myself to do cardio before work that I need the most motivation for.

I’m a slacker…

I let this week get to me.  I let this MONTH get to me.  I’ve known for some time that I’d be cutting around now, so I figured it was OK to grab dessert items after meals….that I could ease up on the workouts a bit….that 2 days in a row of off days was ok (I usually only take one off day per 3-4 weeks)…well dammit, I just logged back on here for the first time in a few weeks, saw how everyone else is progressing, and its back on.  Too many videogames lately and my diet has sucked.  Starting today, I’m back in workout mode.  Wish me luck.

Dammit!

October 14, 2008

I was finally getting results, gained 4 lbs, and then literally overnight, I lost 3 lbs.  Sitting at 201 again, scratching my head, wondering why my metabolism has to be so effing wierd.  I chalk it up to the Venom Hyperdrive 3.0 I’ve been taking.  It definitely decreases my appetite, and I think it’s actually speeding up my metabolism.  I don’t want to stop taking it…it also acts as an energy supplement, and since I work night shift, it seriously helps me stay awake on shift.  Guess I’m just going to have to start eating heavy foods I’ve been avoiding for a long time….

cake…..pastas……pizza……chicken fingers…..

 sweet :p

how to gain muscle while effectively lowering BF% at same time?

October 1, 2008

I need suggestions on this.  I’ve got some dang love handles I’m trying to burn away, but I can’t stand being under 200 pounds.  Right now, I’m sitting at 201 and around a 14% BF, trying to decrease it to about 9%, but at the same time I want to hit 215.  It’s gonna be intense and long, and I don’t have a definite plan…who has suggestions?

Don’t know if I’m doing it right, but…..

September 28, 2008

I’ve decided that I can’t really go on a diet.  I’ve tried, trust me I’ve tried, but God gave me a LOT of love for food.  I can’t stop eating sometimes.  I could eat two large sandwiches, a banana and an apple, half a package of girl scout cookies (they are NOT in short supply here on deployment….) and still have room for more.  I don’t know how I metabolize it all…I have the diet of a 300 lb man, yet manage to stay around 200 lbs and look healthy…thank god for my fast metabolism.

Sadly, though, after I joined the military, went into a Spec Ops career field and gained 25 pounds at tech school (mostly muscle, but the buffet chow hall didn’t help..) I gained love handles with it..

So now I’ve decided, hey I’ve got time.  I want to be fit, but at the same time I want to gain some muscle.  But how to do this without dieting?  I figure I can make up for it by doing massive amounts of cardio workouts while still being able to eat what I want when I want.  I mean, seriously, with as much as I love food, my only other alternative is bulimia…

that was a joke, and probably in bad taste….sorry bulimics!

so I’m trying a 2 a day workout routine.  During the day, I will do a solid hour of cardio.  On one day I will run about 8 miles on the treadmill, and every other day I will spend 1 hour on the stair step machine, climbing roughly 350 stories, and the other workout is an intense weightlifting routine to build strength and mass.  Only days off will be sundays cuz that is basketball night, and seriously, who wants to miss basketball night?

So if this is a bad idea, someone let me know what the heck I can do, without having to cut back on meals, to get rid of these dang love handles, yet gain plenty of lean muscle mass.  Otherwise, I’m gonna do this workout every day for the next 5 1/2 months, effectively commiting slow suicide…woohoo.

Welcome!
