Did Walt Disney have a mom?
This has puzzled me for years…did Walt Disney have a mom? Or did he dislike his mother? Why in just about all of the Disney movies does the mother die, is already dead or just doesn’t exist?
Think about it…In Bambi &Dumbo their mom’s died after they showed them as being so sweet and caring. In Nemo, Little Mermaid, & Chicken Little the mom’s had already died. Pinocchio never mentions a mom.
And, there is allot of wicked stepmothers…Snow White, Cinderella…why not have evil mother in laws? Seems more believeable :0)
In Jungle Book, Mogli was an orphan….
I guess everytime a movie comes out from Disney or is re-released…the first thing I look for is to see if the mom exists.
Wierd.

Exactly! As mom of 2 youngins I’ve noticed this too. But is it Walt’s fault or is it the stories they decide to make into movies. After all, Little Nemo came out WAY after Walt died. Now Toy Story has a mom - a single mom (as far as we know! And The Incredibles has one hell of a cool mom. But yeah, most Disney moms don’t have too good of a fate.

I’ve noticed that about moms in WD movies, but when you put it all together like that, it has a much bigger impact.
I should really be cleaning this house, but I’d rather GOOGLE instead. So I found this and someone made an interesting comment that may shed some light on the subject…I think it’s the last comment:

dont you know if there was a mother you would have no movie? we watch over our kids and make sure they stay out of trouble so snow white would never have eaten the apple and ariel would have kept her fanny in the water….

What an observation - I never noticed that before. Being a mother, now I feel ashamed that I never paid attention to that…… Bummer

Nemo’s mom was a mom eaten by a barracuda first thing in the film, but the best line from the film was "In never knew my fatha!" from the crying sharks. Single father fish, cries of an anguished shark missing his father, shows there is a new Disney in town. Mike Eisner takes over and continues the fine tradition at Disney of whacking moms early in films but then does Walt one better by removing any further reference to her and not only that but crying about missing fathers they never knew.
Where’s my water bong?

Well Walt Disney gav his mom a oven which was awesome back then but then one day as she was cooking she killed herself by burning down the house so Walt thinks its his fault so that is y he does not lik Moms
