Blog Entry
First off thanks so much for your prayers, love, support, kind words. I am forever greatful.
So, here I sit in the hospital with my son…day after surgery. The surgery went good. It was more intense that they had thought. First off, to back up…he had what was called a tethered spinal cord (basically fatty tissue at the bottom of his spinal cord). It was not affecting him yet, but could in the future, so we did the surgery. Well, the surgery went well, but the tumor (fatty tissue) had grown dramatically over the past 2 months. They had to removed 3 bones instead of 1 to get to it. It was only 1 centemeter from his spinal cord. Which really would have affected him developmentally had we not done the surgery when we did. So, all in all…we will walk out of here in a couple days (Sunday or Monday) with a HEALTHY little 12 month old boy!
It has been rough b/c he has to be on his side or on his tummy. Try telling a one year old that…they don’t get it. And I can’t even hold him. So, I lay in this big crib with him and just console him. But, today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be better than today……
Of course everyone has brought us the LEAST healthy foods ever! I guess getting the flu a few days before this and losing 4 lbs was a blessing too! LOL. I gained it back…sorry Jason! Even the cafeteria here didn’t have any chicken or protein on their salad bar. So, soup and salad was my dinner last night. Tonight my hubby is going to get us take-out. Some nice chicken…yummmmmmmm.
I can’t wait to be home. Be with my daughter who is being spoiled rotten by her grandma and grandpa, and have this lil guy home too.
I also CAN’T wait to get back into the gym. When it is all said and done I will have taken a week off due to the flu, surgery etc…
Through this I have learned what is NOT important in life….I know what IS important, and that is where my focus needs to be.
Life is short…live it the way you envision it. No excuses, no regrets. Love what you have. And be greatful for all of God’s little clues…as hard as they may be (the surgery), it was a blessing we didn’t wait. Everything happens for a reason….
