Vegetarian Meal Plans

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I’m taking a break from writing essays for my nutrition consultation course.  I just finished making a two-day vegan meal plan.  It was a little frustrating because I wasn’t given that much information about the vegan.  All it said is that his name is Sam.  I know that they were just asking me to make something very basic, but of course I wanted to get all complicated.  I needed to know how old this guy is, how active he is, how much he weighs, what his goals are, blah blah blah.  So not only did I create a meal plan for this dude, but I also created an entire profile for him and included it on my test paper.  I’m such a dork.  Now I have to make a 2-day lacto-ovovegetarian meal plan.  Ugh.  It pains me to think of being a vegetarian.

It’s an update, yo

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Whew.  This is the first time I’ve gotten to sit down all day.  My students had graduation this morning, so everything was pretty hectic at school.  But now I’m done with that.  School is officially out for the summer.  And it looks like I’m going to start working at a second gym (the one where I actually workout).  A few weeks ago one of the trainers/managers told me there was an open position that I could pretty much have if I just turned in an application.  So I did.  He really wants me to teach some fitness classes, which means that I need to hurry up and finish my coursework.  That’s going to be my priority for the next couple of weeks.

I had two really good workouts yesterday.  In the morning I did cardio (hiit).  I got my 60 second sprints up to 11.0 mph at a 2.0 incline.  Yahoo.  And then in the afternoon I worked back, biceps, and abs.  I went up to 165 lbs on my dead lifts. Double yahoo.  And to be honest, my hands hurt before anything else did.  I really need some new gloves.

Today is chest, shoulders, and triceps.  I’m not feeling 100%, but I think that this cup of coffee I’m sipping on will help.  I didn’t plan on doing any cardio today, but there was a dance after graduation, and I’m pretty sure that an hour of jumping around and "dropping it like it’s hot" qualifies as cardio.  Haha.

Oh, I’m taking progress pictures on Thursday morning.  I’m also going to weigh myself (yikes!).  I haven’t done that in over a month.

More later.

nothing on tv. no crawfish for me.

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

There is absolutely nothing worth watching on tv at 5am.  Nothing but infomercials.    I can’t even find an episode of Becker to make fun of.  Blah.  I wish I was asleep.

So I’ll be switching things up a little bit next week with my workouts.  I’m pretty much finished with teaching, so I have more time to work with during the day, atleast for now.  I’m going back to having two leg days (ham/glutes/calves and quads/glutes calves) and two arm days (bis with back, tris with chest and shoulders, and also a day of just bis/tris) then I’m also working abs about every other day.  It’s all very exciting.

I’m helping throw a crawfish boil tonight for my mom’s birthday.  I’m really not that crazy about crawfish.  It’s too much freaking work for such a small piece of meat.  Guess I’ll be bringing my own food.  I’ll grill some chicken or something.  Oh!  And I’ll bring some green veggies and to throw in with the crawfish.  A stalk of celery boiled with crawfish is the best-tasting thing ever!

Back to watching nothing on tv.  *sigh*

I heart gymnasts.

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

I’m watching women’s college gymnastics.  Some girl from LSU just did a back headspring.  No, I didn’t mean to type handspring.  The girl did a headspring.  Gymnasts rock.

Time to go work chest and shoulders.  Hoo-rah.

Day of Rest

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Today is a rest day and I definitely need it after yesterday.  I swam in the morning.  Then I worked legs/glutes in the afternoon.  It was a hard and heavy squat fest.  My tush and quads are pretty sore today.  Yay.

The race went, well, it went.  The run was surprisingly painful for me.  I rely heavily on mile markers, and at this race there were none.  I don’t understand how the people who plan these things could leave out mile markers.  I mean, all you have to do is stick someone out there or just make a sign.  Signs are cheap.  Anyway, my point is that I got really confused on my pacing.  Plus I started off too fast (I always do that).  So I ended up clocking it in 23:28.  That’s still my best time, but I know for a fact that I could have done better.  And it shouldn’t have hurt so freaking much.  Next time.

My phone rings.  More later.

Broad-shouldered girls, you make the rockin world go round.

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

When I was in high school I had this friend who used to sing Queen’s "Fat-Bottomed Girls" to me, except he changed the lyrics to say, "Broad-shouldered girls, you make the rockin’ world go round."  I’m pretty sure I took offense to it at the time, but now it just makes me laugh.

Speaking of shoulders.  So there’s this girl I work with.  She’s sweet and supposedly works out regularly.  Anyway, the other day she overheard me say something about my shoulder workout.  She gasped and said, "Oh no!  Don’t train your shoulders!  Girls shouldn’t train their shoulders.  It’ll make you all big like a guy."  I just laughed and said, "Here’s hoping."

I have another 5k race tomorrow.  I’m going to try and clock it in 23:00.  I can do it.  I know I have it in me.  I just have to pay attention to my pacing.

Time to zone out and (hopefully) fall asleep watching tv.  I think Frasier is on right now.  I like to fall asleep watching Frasier because sometimes it makes me dream of Seattle.
