These Are My Goals!

July 26, 2009

By the time you finish reading this you will understand that I am somewhat of an ambitious girl. And well, I am. I mean if I just said something along the lines of “As a goal I want to live a healthier lifestyle", I get to determine what healthier is by the level of motivation I have from day-to-day and I can quit on any one of those days where I have had enough. By listing these specific goals everyone will know in full living color that I have a set place that I want to be. I will also have the satisfaction of saying "Yes, I have goals! I have given it thought! These are the things that I think about these are the things that shape my behavior in the gym." And I can list them… dadat..dadat dadat. I know by writing them down I will come back to them to refocus when I need to motivate myself. I hope that they will inspire you to make your own list of goals. So here they are

  • Goal #: Earn an IFBB Pro Figure Card

o        I believe that this is the first step in completing the rest of my goals. Not because the rest are hinged on this card, but because this is important to me. If I needed to I could prove to myself that the rest IS attainable regardless of having this card. But earning this first will give me great confidence in myself as well as confidence from others.
·         Goal #: Complete my studies to earn my NCSF (National Council on Strength and Fitness) certification as a personal trainer.
o        I began a distance learning program this summer and I should be done within the next 9-12 months. Now if you read my bio you will remember that there was a short statement in that alluding to the fact that I home school my two children, and have for the past four years. So I am clearly out of my gourd! Please send your donations of pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks etc. to the: “We Three Dean’s of Home-schooled Are” foundation. ( ß Sang to the tune of We Three Kings)
·         Goal #: Earn a four year degree in a fitness related study such as exercise science.
o        As I am writing this, my transcripts and acceptance application is snuggly sitting in someone’s “inbox”, on top of someone’s desk, in some office, down some hall, past the lobby of some building on the campus of Texas Tech University. In four years I will proudly walk across the stage.
·         Goal #: Be published in a nationwide fitness orientated magazine and appear in special issue installments of magazines.
o        As a model being published is the end result of a whole lot of hard work! It’s not just about the hard work in the gym though, that’s only part of it. Making sure that you are represented properly, networking myself with photographers, casting directors and event coordinators does not happen by just shooting pictures. And by the way, it’s a business too! Yeah! With taxes and bank accounts and a bunch of stress! So being published really does mean that you have stuck through all of the hard stuff and made an accomplishment.
·         Goal #: Build a fully equipped personal fitness facility at my home to train clients in.
o        This is really less of a goal and more of a luxury that would fall under the same category as a travel bus. I can always train clients at someone else’s gym, but this way sounds much more appealing and is really what I would like to do. Nothing to big, I’d say around 10,000 sq ft should do fine. Commercial grade equipment such as treadmill, elliptical machine, cable system, smith machine, d-bell & b-bell racks and a floor space for group classes.
·         Goal #: Introduce a line of fitness apparel and swimwear.
o        This is really a fun goal because it will give me the chance to express myself creatively. Women want to feel sexy! And men, well… they want to see their woman feel and especially look sexy. I want to market a line of clothing both fitness and swimwear that will give them that feeling, I would truly love that!
·         Goal #: Design, produce and distribute video training programs. (As seen on T.V. lol!)
o        And it doesn’t have to stop at clothing products. I would love to have a complete line of media based training programs. My own personal trainer is taking the first steps to make this happen for himself.
·         Goal #: Hospitality company (hotel chain/cruise line) fitness consultant and in-house/on board trainer.
o        Okay, what personal trainer among us wouldn’t love to do this? I have always wanted to be able to earn a good living while traveling. I have also wanted to earn a living helping and inspiring others to attain their fitness goals. 1+1 friends, equals me cruising the Bahamas while I earn a living doing what I really love to do. Now I have never been on a cruise, but with everything there is to offer on those ships it just makes sense that a hospitality companies will employ such a person. Like I said, I have never been on a cruise so send your check or money order to the “Training Away Again on Cruise Ship” Foundation (ß Sang to the tune of Margaritaville)
·         Goal #: Partner with a major food restaurant to promote and endorse a healthy eating menu.

    • I would love to go into a restaurant and find an extensive menu that would be complimentary to those of us who really want to eat healthy, really healthy. Wouldn’t be nice to be able to go out to eat and see food selections that didn’t blow your competition diet into shreds? Not that the population at large would care about that but if it looked appealing and tasted good they would never know that they were eating healthy. (Sounds like a certain dog food commercial don’t it!)

Well there you have it, my goals. I’m sure you noticed that I didn’t put a number next to the # sign. That’s because things change, ideas evolve and what may be a priority today may be taken over by a loftier goal next week. The truth is I will always be happy with being a good mom and a sexy wife. I am confident that my kids think that of me, and my husband always shows me how he feels about the way that I look to him. But if I can show my kids that with hard work and determination you can reach your goals, isn’t that apart of being a good mom? If I can achieve what I start out to accomplish, doesn’t that make my husband more proud? In turn, will the people that are around me become inspired?
My challenge to you is to set down and think about what you want to do and why. But don’t just give it a passing thought. Instead, ponder each idea. Meditate on a plan that will get you a step closer to reaching that goal. Talk to others who will not knock you down because your idea of success doesn’t match theirs. Start with a weekly goal plan. If you want to start with just setting a goal to make it to a gym five days this week- that’s fine. But then set a monthly goal. As you begin to reach those small goals you will build confidence. It will turn into a habit and before to long your goals will be your passion. You will begin to build your life around achieving them. For me, I know that to reach my ultimate goals I first need a degree. So I am enrolling in college. That is a major decision my friend! But the life I want, the goals that Brandie has set must be approached with the attitude that if I want to change the rest of my life I must change the rest of this year, this season, month, week, and day. I would love to hear about your goals. Some people already have them, if you do let us hear it!
Respectfully,
~Brandie Mischele Dean

Birthday Post

July 20, 2009

For the past several weeks and even more in the past 6 days, I have been hard at work updating my website and my profiles which I subscribe to. All of the hard work is beginning to pay off. I am becoming more organized which makes my life a lot more efficient. Beginning this blog, and posting regular updates to my bodyspace stats and workout tracker is part of that organization process.  The reason that I decided to get "hardcore" about documenting my progress is really a long and complicated answer. The short of it is that as of tomorrow I will be 32 years old. Set aside the fact that another trip around the sun is a great time for anyone to start any good habit, I just feel that I am squandering the opportunity to use all of the great resources available here on this site. In the future I will try hard to keep you up to date with what I am doing. I really have allot of information to hand out. This is one place that I will do that, another is my newsletter. You can get signed up by simply visiting my website and filling out the form on the home page. www.brandiedean.com

I feel that it is important that I introduce myself to you so that you know who I am and why I am here.

Full Bio:

GENERAL:

I am a NPC figure competitor. I exercise daily incorporating both weight training and cardio into my regiment. I maintain a healthy diet and although I do use protein supplementation, I achieved my physique naturally. I would like to pursue a modeling career focusing on fashion, swimwear and fitness, but I am not apposed to other forms as long as it is tasteful and is not nude. Lingerie may also be an option with very strict limitations. I general, I am an intelligent and hardworking individual who doesn’t mind learning new things. I have a humble and gracious attitude and am easy to work with. I value integrity and working with other like-minded individuals. My hobbies include spending time with my husband and two children, working out, modeling and reading fitness related articles. I am a NPC figure and bikini competitor and fitness model. Most people find me easy going with a positive outlook. In addition to my current studies to earn certification as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant, I am enrolling this fall to begin studies to earn a degree in exercise science.

PERSONAL:

I am a 31 year old mother of two. Kaitilin (daughter) who is 11 and McKale (son) who is 10. I home-school both of my children which is sometimes difficult but it allows me to be with them throughout the day. Kaitilin is my little mother hen/glam girl who wants to be every ones friend. She has never met a stranger which is a bit scary now but it will serve her well when she becomes president. McKale is much more reserved. He is a mamma’s boy, no he’s a rough and tough mamma’s boy that will love on me and give me the sweetest sugar this side of Hershey, Pennsylvania. He loves playing Guitar Hero and blows my mind with his level of skill. I have been married to my “Kindergarten Sweetheart”, Mark since 1996. Mark and I met when we were 4 years old, married at 18 and have been deeply and madly in love ever since. We plan to grow old holding each other in our arms, and never ever taking a day of life for granted. But we don’t plan to start growing old for another 40-60 years from now!

HOW IT ALL STARTED:Kaitilin McKale

In the summer of 2008 my daughter, Kaitilin, and son, McKale set up a lemonade stand in front of our home. They enthusiastically waved down cars to sell them cool refreshment. During the course of their sales a man stopped and bought a glass of lemonade and began speaking with me about a case study that involved incorporating weight training with cardio. All of my adult life I stayed in shape by using workout videos and simple hand weights. The new study would put me in the gym using heavy weights and cardio equipment that I had never used before. After just six weeks I made significant improvements to my muscle tone and dropped my body fat from 18% to 13%! Soon I was being asked by my friends to compete in figure competitions. I began training for my first competition on January 1st 2009. That is how it started, there is know telling how it will end. By the way the kids made almost $100 in lemonade sales. True story!
