Hang in there....just think that eating candy is great for what, 5 seconds? Then you beat yourself up the rest of the day for that 5 second high. Go ahead and eat some sugar, enjoy it, and move on. Don't keep letting it suck you in! You are doing this for you and nobody else! You are a beautiful so enjoy your age! .....and have a very happy birthday!!

Is it too vain to say I am frustrated with always using phrases like: "considering I have had 5 children . . ." or "for being almost 40 . . ." - I don't know just venting.

I think it's the "mental frustration" that is most difficult - knowing that I sabotage my own self because of what - sugar?

I agree on not trying to compete with some of the amazing physiques on here - there are some amazing people in here.

On the 13th I will turn 40 - and feel absolutely wonderful - age is still (and hopefully will always be) just a number.

Thanks for the comment.

I share your frustrations with the eating side of the equation. Generally, it's munching at night after dinner. Probably some combination of stress, comfort food, lifetime of bad habits, etc.

Don't beat yourself up too much. Looking at your progress pics, you look GREAT. Most women hitting 40 would love to have your physique. I think it's easy to idolize perfection, esp with all the amazing bodies on this site. I want to get lean to see the ole abs, but I also try to balance that with keeping it in perspective. Will getting the perfect body be the thing that makes me happy. Don't think so.

Dec birthday? Me too! Turning 47. :-)

You mean *scammers*

I find it no different than the reason that I am taking Gaspari products - a referral on this website and through a personal blog praising it. The only difference is that my name isn't "Gaspari" or "VPX".

Thanks for your comment

I agree with the others. You do have to give yourself a break whether it is one meal or a whole day. When I crave something I either find a good substitute for it or have just a couple of bites of the real thing. One of my favorite substitutions is sliced cucumbers in lowfat french onion dip for sour cream and onion potato chips. When you eat make sure you chew your food well and enjoy the taste because the slower you eat, the more time your brain has to tell your stomach when to stop. Make sure you drink lots of water too because sometimes you are just thirsty not hungry. Also, remember that you are human and we do mess up a little and don't beat yourself up for it. Just pick up where you left off and push forward. I wish you the best, good luck!

Just get back to a consistant pattern of clean eating and you should be ok. You aren't alone when it comes to yo-yo eating. but with th progress you've mad you aren't in any real trouble.

If it isn't as bad as it used to be, then you're improving. Keep working to overcome the situation. Take baby steps! Before you know it you'll have more control over this cycle than you ever imagined.
I understand how you feel about the waste of effort. It bites that it takes weeks to lose three or four pounds, but only a couple of bad meals to gain that much. It's all worth it in the end, though.
I agree with euroman about the junk day. There is a diet that most of the people at my gym do. If you eat clean 6 days in a row, you get to junk on the seventh. If you cheat, you miss your junk day. It helps motivate you to eat clean all week. Plus, when you're tempted you know you'll get to eat that stuff on Sat, Sun or whatever.
I think it might really help.

Good luck, and hang in there!
