I need help!

That’s all there is to it - I need help! I workout hard and focus on eating well most of the time - and then there is that meal or day that I absolutely lose it - and eat everything that is not nailed down! UGH! Why, why, why - I feel absolutely helpless when I get in that mode.  It started Saturday when a friend brought cookies and rice crispy treats for our weekend travel - I remember thinking that I should just stay away completely and then I remember having the thought "I could have a small bite" - it was over after that.  For the rest of the day I ate, ate, ate - candy, cookies, soda, etc. - I went to bed feeling like crap/sick and got up Sunday and basically repeated it all over again.

I got up today totally disgusted and ready to get back on track - made the mistake of stepping on the scale - what a waste of effort when you are heavier than you were last week based on a few days of out-of-control eating.

Boy do I stuggle with this yo-yo of eating - not as much as I use to but I sure am frustrated to work so hard and still fall into this cycle of destructive eating behaviors.

Maybe you should have a junk day, so you won’t feel deprived. I have one once a week , and it keeps me from going crazy .

If it isn’t as bad as it used to be, then you’re improving. Keep working to overcome the situation. Take baby steps! Before you know it you’ll have more control over this cycle than you ever imagined.
I understand how you feel about the waste of effort. It bites that it takes weeks to lose three or four pounds, but only a couple of bad meals to gain that much. It’s all worth it in the end, though.
I agree with euroman about the junk day. There is a diet that most of the people at my gym do. If you eat clean 6 days in a row, you get to junk on the seventh. If you cheat, you miss your junk day. It helps motivate you to eat clean all week. Plus, when you’re tempted you know you’ll get to eat that stuff on Sat, Sun or whatever.
I think it might really help.

Good luck, and hang in there!

Just get back to a consistant pattern of clean eating and you should be ok. You aren’t alone when it comes to yo-yo eating. but with th progress you’ve mad you aren’t in any real trouble.

I agree with the others. You do have to give yourself a break whether it is one meal or a whole day. When I crave something I either find a good substitute for it or have just a couple of bites of the real thing. One of my favorite substitutions is sliced cucumbers in lowfat french onion dip for sour cream and onion potato chips. When you eat make sure you chew your food well and enjoy the taste because the slower you eat, the more time your brain has to tell your stomach when to stop. Make sure you drink lots of water too because sometimes you are just thirsty not hungry. Also, remember that you are human and we do mess up a little and don’t beat yourself up for it. Just pick up where you left off and push forward. I wish you the best, good luck!
