OptiMen Multivitamin

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I have been using optimum’s multivitamin for men.  I have it listed on my supplement list and I totally love this multivitamin.  This thing is packed with micronutrients.  I have been using it for about 3 months.  Check it out it is very reasonably priced.  Oh by the way I don’t work for ON so don’t ask.  I just like the multivitamin.

Total Body Workouts

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

These total body workouts are producing some incredible results.  This has forced me to look at my beliefs on frequency and recovery.  I set some personal records this week training each muscle group with a much higher frequency.  Of course, each session has a limited volume per muscle group.  I vary my total sets to 2-3 sets per exercise.  I am totally excited about this routine.

Check out the details of this awesome routine

Let me know what your experiences have been with frequency,

Michael Thomas

Effective Training

Friday, November 21st, 2008

1) Train Progressively

2) Choose basic exercises.  Squats, leg presses, lunges, presses, pullups, pulldowns, rows, Curls, Extensions.

3) Keep some sort of record to know if you are progressing

4) Use gym time wisely (goes with 1)
5) Follow each workout with just enough time (recovery) to exceed previous performance.

6) Keep It Simple

7) Listen to your body.  All exercise variables should be safe for you.  If they are not change them.
Have A Great Day,

Michael

How Bad Do You Want It?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Here is a good list of questions.  How bad do you REALLY want it? Are you willing to take total responsibility for your success or failure?  Are you REALLY willing to sacrifice?  Are you willing to put it all on the line?  Are you willing to get it done even when everything inside you tells you to stop?  Are you willing to stay true to your goals and actions even when situations make it almost impossible?  Do you have perserverence even when things get REAL tough?

Early Morning Workouts

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I just love early morning workouts.  Getting up and paying yourself first with your time and energy.  I usually get up about 340 am on M W and Fr to get to workout.  Then I rush across town to get to my first appointment at 6 am.  Here are a few reasons why early workouts are great for me:

1) I am full of energy once I get up and start moving.

2) The gym I go to which is awesome by the way is dead.  I never have to wait on equipment.

3) Getting in my 7-8 small meals is so easy when you are up early.

4) After the workout I can get on with the rest of my day.  Focusing on business and family.

5) Absolutely no distractions early to take your attention away from training.

6) Mentally I am very sharp for the 6 hours post workout.  I get a ton of work done before noon.
I could list many more but thats a start.

Left Leg Still Way Behind

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

After taking some measurements the left leg still has a long way to go.  On my lower quad especially.  The vastus medialis muscle that sits right over the knee cap (tear drop shaped) is still way behind.  My surgeon told me that would be the problem.  I am still trying to be conservative but train with lots of intensity.  I can’t do barbell squats which is frustrating but I have been making the leg press my home.  I usually perform at least 30-50 reps of leg presses for 3-4 sets several times per week.  I am still up in the air about my comeback next year.

Well See,

Michael

All It Takes Is Everything You Got

Monday, November 17th, 2008

I saw a shirt years ago and that is what it said.  "All It Takes Is Everything You Got!!"  I thought that was very inspirational.  I was in college in those days and many times was struggling to juggle a ton of stuff.  That shirt found me on a day when I was lacking in energy.   I often think about how true that statement is.  Instead of looking for the easy way to get something done.  I think we might be better off to submit to the fact that usually it is going to take a tremendous effort to achieve greatness.  That tremendous effort may also take longer than we had planned.  Are you, giving it all you got?
