You’re cutting? May I ask why? You look very lean and trimmed already. I’d keep the bulk if I had what you have.

Anyway, about abs. I don’t work abs directly usually. They get hit pretty hard with squats, deadlifts, presses, etc. But I do like the ab wheel (or a bar if you want more weight). I also like yoga and pilates. Killer on the abs. You should try some of those holding positions. Yeah, they look funny to an observer, but they’re great for the entire core (abs and lower back).

Take care, man. Hope you get lots of feedback for your abs. Wish I could see mine.

Hi David, well I do weighted crunches 3xweek - but your abs are much better than mine so i doubt my advice will help..LOL

For exercise descriptions see BB.com exercise database.

    Superset 1: 25 reps Janda sit-ups
    15 seconds rest
25 reps legs straight up, reach up to touch toes with medicine ball

Repeat superset 1 three times with a 90 seconds rest in between.

After completing the three sets of the superset do three sets of reverse crunches (25 reps) with knees bent at 90 degrees (similar to Bent-Knee Hip Raise in bb.com exercise database). Rest 90 seconds in between sets.

As in everyting else, the advise you want depends on your goals. In general, abs (like calves) are a muscle that you don’t have to worry about overtraining. You can do them everyday and see gains. But if you’re trying to cut, any ab exercise is fine, just don’t use extra weight. do lots of reps. But if you want core strength (this will help you with almost everyting you do), do ab exercises with weight. Examples for non weight: regular crunches, regular sit ups, leg raises and the ab wheel. Examples for weighted exercised: weighted decline sit ups, weighted roman chair leg raises, standing weighted crunches (if you have the appropriate equipment). Power bands work well also, but most gyms don’t have them (google Westside Barbell for more info). all the best
