have to take a break- freaking out
Hi everyone, I am going to be out of the gym probably for 3 weeks total (due to a surgery). I am freaking out about 1. Gaining weight 2. losing my hard earned muscle. Does anyone have any tips on not turning into a a flabby girl the next 3 weeks. Thanks!

3 weeks is a drop in the bucket. Continue to eat healthy clean foods and you will be just fine. Keep your protein up.

I had shoulder surgery last year and did some research on that topic. Basically, eat clean and take in lots of protein / EAA’s. (Research shows that essential amino acid supplementation helps to reduce atrophy in immobile patients.) One other thought - do you HAVE to be out of the gym? I was able to still get in for leg work and riding a stationary bike during the time I couldn’t move my arm.

You’ll do fine. Don’t worry. Your body and mind may want the rest and when you come back you will be charged. Listen to your doctor and don’t push the healing process.

HI guys, Thanks so much for your help. I think I am going to precook alot of healthy foods and have it ready when ever I am hungry and keep it clean. Jay, would BCAAs work the same? I have those that I put in my shakes. As far as being out of the gym, it just depends on how fast I heal. 3-4 week is worse case senerio. If everything goes right, I might be able to bike the second week. I just have never taken a break and done absolutly nothing for an extended time. Maybe I should think of it as a good thing? Thanks again!
