Countdown to 25…T minus 113 Days Official Kick-off (day 2)

Friday, December 19th, 2008

T – 113 (DAY 2)
WEIGHT 210
WAIST 38.5
So today is the official kick off of my self challenge. I wrote the last entry at like 3am at work (Germany time). Went to the Gym today and changed how I work out. Usually I go in with the mind set of moving as much as possible put still keeping some kind of form. I usually get to about 6 reps. Today I went to a moderate amount of weight that allowed me to get to 10-12 reps, keep strict form and allowed me to contract the muscle I was working for 2-3 second before lowering the weight to start the next rep.Like most of you, I followed the usual routine, I go to the gym. I tear down my body (today was back). Then I come home and…well and nothing. I’d usually forget to supplement or even eat anything by the time I got home…more or less making all that hard work useless. Sure I might have burned some calories in whatever but it probably isn’t enough to allow me to grow muscle and actually keep my metabolism running on high. So today as soon as I got home I took two scoops of Cell Mass by BSN, two capsules of Optimum Nutrition’s Superior Amino 2222 Caps and then finished it off with 1 Scoop of Syntha Six by BSN.

I go back to work tonight for luckily only a half shift and it will be my first test to see if I can stay away from the candy drawer…actually I’m pretty sure I’ll stay away…there was a great suggestion by Lottie Rose (http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/lottierose/), “…make your own “not so junk drawer” its easy to eat when your bored I chew gum…” So I’m taking a plastic bag to work with me that contains pumpkin seeds, almonds and a protein bar in case O get the munchies. I’d also like to thank the four people who commented yesterday they all provided me with some much needed “You can do it” attitude.

Back on Track

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

So got my box from bodybuilding.com the other day. And after my little fiasco of me consuming everything under the sun, "I eat because I’m unhappy and I’m unhappy because I eat", I needed that box. It was my saving grace. I had ordered some Optimum Chitosan. I’m not going to say it was only the Chitosan but combined with a mostly Tuna diet over the past 2 days I’ve widdled down to 204.5 from 211 in 16 days. I’m thinking I’d already be past my goal of 199 if I could only get into the gym on a more frequent basis. I’m seriously going to try to get in there today and do some chest. I have a knee apointment this morning at 10 and hopefully they tell me I can drive again. I can walk with just a little bit of a limp, but my quad still feels weak.

The Jagged Path of Weight Loss

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

The novelty of weight loss is a great thing. That first whole week, you are determined as hell to make it. You eat right. Work out hard. And tell yourself, this is it, I’m going to finally do this. Then life happens. The novelty starts to where off. You find yourself saying oh, i’ll just eat this one thing than that’s it. Next thing you know you are sitting in front of an Ultimate Double Whopper at Burger King.

I have strayed. I was doing a great job, i lost 4.5-5 pounds in like five or six days. Then I totally strayed. I shot back up to 208, which i’m thinking is just potty weight because I hadn’t gone yet when I weighed myself….though you’d like to know that…anyway, due to the fact that I have a bumb knee right now and i can’t drive or even walk to the gym (to far to hobble) I won’t be able to hit the gym the way I want to until next friday when i go back to work. I work nights and the Gym on Ramstein Air Base is just around the block from where I work so I can just limp on over to there at my regular time. As for right now I’m really really going to try to restart eating clean. I ate an ultimate double whopper yesterday and the whole time I was eating it I was telling myself that I shouldn’t be eating it.

Strict Diet

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

So my knee surgery is less than 12 hours away. I am actually excited. Hopefully everything gets fixed and I can resume normal workouts in like 2-3 weeks, of course doing low weights on legs to build my strength back up. But seeing how I will not be able to go to the gym or do any type of real cardio, I’ll have to rely solely on a strict diet.

Here are my targets:
1.25g to 1.50g of protein per lb of bodyweight = 261grams – 313grams
10 calories per lb of bodyweight= 2085-2200
Carbs = less than 100 per day
Fat = Less than 60 per day

Projected Food Schedule:
Meal 1:
2 scoops Syntha 6: 400cal, 30carbs, 24fat, 44 protein
Grapefruit: 102cal, 26carbs, 0fat, 2protein

Meal 2:
12oz Can of Tuna: 350cal, 1carb, 12.5fat, 55protein

Meal 3:
2 Chicken Breasts:  260cal, 0carbs, 2fat, 54protein
½ cup spaghetti sauce: 30cal, 8carb, 0fat, 2protein

Meal 4:
12oz Can of Tuna: 350cal, 1carb, 12.5fat, 55protein

Meal 5:
2 Chicken Breasts:  260cal, 0carbs, 2fat, 54protein
½ cup spaghetti sauce: 30cal, 8carb, 0fat, 2protein

Meal 6:
12oz Can of Tuna: 350cal, 1carb, 12.5fat, 55protein

Totals: 2132cal, 67carb, 53fat, 323protein

Blog Entry

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Second day of training was a little dissapointing, I was doing cable rows and when i pushed off on the foot plate my knee popped, my knee joint locks up because I have a torn meniscuse. On Friday I go under the knife to get a torn meniscuse fixed. I’ve had the injury for a while but, have had issues and haven’t really been able to get in a good leg workout without hurting myself. I’ll have to focus on clean eating the next two weeks while i’m recovering. -MAS
