Diet Plan for College Kids
So I got a message about what my diet plan consists of. Its hard being a college kid an having all of this greasy food around you and hardly any healthy options available. I had to cut out meat as a protein source (that was the saddest day of my life!) because schools tend to cover it in butter and breading. I substituted eggs for meat along with protein shakes. I also eat five small meals a day with about two hours in between each meal. Here is the break down by hour and calorie:
DIET
Meal 1, 9:00am:
whole hard boiled egg handful of oats
92, 156= 248
Meal 2, 11:30am:
toast with 2tsp peanut butter and banana
69, 210, 40= 319
Meal 3, 2:00pm*:
yogurt with an apple with 2tsp
90, 95, 210= 395
Meal 4, 5:00pm:
two hard boiled eggs carrots
184, 52= 236
Meal 5, 7:00pm:
protein shake with an orange and 24 almonds
117, 85, 163= 365
TOTAL Calories: 1,563
*Meal 3 is right after my workout, which is when you are allowed to have a tiny bit of sugar, which is why I have yogurt inserted here.
Well, I hope you enjoy! sounds tasty huh?!
Being Committed
So this weekend I went home for Easter and my mom gave me a TON of candy to take home- mostly chocolate, which happens to be my main weakness. So what do I do? Did I throw it away? No. I ate it. And afterwards, do you know how I felt? Like a fat hunk of melted, buttery chocolate. It was discusting! I have never felt so sick in my life. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that I was going to die because my stomach hurt so bad. I didn't realize how crappy, bad food made me feel until that moment. I had been eating clean for a while, so my body was not used to all of the torture I used to put it through anymore. To make matters worse, I went to hop on the stair climber this morning and had to get off twice to catch my breath. Not only did I not feel 100%, but my body's functioning level during my workout wasn't up to par either. My boyfriend kept looking at me like I had a third eye or something. He was just as shocked as I was.
Basically the moral of the story is DON'T CAVE. I don't care what it is, I don't care if it tastes like heaven on earth, it's not worth it.
Keep in mind though that I have been eating clean for a while now, which is why my body was not prepared for the amount of sugar and carbs in the candy. People who have not been eating a strictly healty diet may not have that experience, but trust me, I will never have it again! I can literally feel the fat cells forming right now.
I learned that what you put into your body is the outcome you should expect when you workout: if you eat poorly, expect your workouts (and your results for that matter) to be depressing. If you eat well, expect to have more energy and faster results.
Well. That's all she wrote. I hope this helps someone besides myself!
