keeping up

February 25, 2009

So I’ve been trying to keep up with the daily routine. I’ve been good as far as the "diet" goes, but I’m wondering if I eat too little during the day. It’s hard for me to get over 1000 cals a day with the stuff that I like to eat. I’m a veg and I’m pretty selective with the foods that I eat. I’ve been doing a mix of pilates/weight lifting during the evening hours. I find myself feeling old with aches and pains everywhere! 5 more days until i go on a much needed vacation where I can hopefully find some "healthy eats" between the margaritas and mexican food!

Blog Entry

February 16, 2009

Today was a good day. Slept well last night which is rare and woke up in a good mood on Monday?!?! Didn’t do as well as I wanted today with food. Went to the gym this evening for a "women’s weight lifting seminar" which ended up to be about 20 minutes long and nothing of substance. I ducked out of the gym quickly so the trainer wouldn’t catch me going home to spend 20 minutes with the BF before he went in for the night shift. I worked on arms tonight at home and did 30 mintues of pilates.

 no cardio today. I broke my ankle about a year ago now and rehab has been slow because of knee problem no one can come to one thought about what is causing it. Plica vs IT band vs meniscus…I work in orthopaedics you think it would be easier to get a good opinion LOL! Anyways my knee pain is severe when I run outside which I did yesterday because it was so beautiful and now I am paying…..sore knees and shin splints on the left.

 Tomorrow i want to get up a little early and do a short work-out before work and run 5 miles in the evening.

 Food:

Breakfast(6am):

Fiber one 1/2 c. with 1/2c skim milk and 2 cups of coffee

Snack(10am):

Water and Activia with 7 almonds

Lunch(1:30pm):

Salad with carrots and feta cheese water

Somewhere between lunch and dinner…..4 crackers, water and one chocolate :0(

Dinner(5pm):

Baked eggplant with red sauce

Snack:..not sure yet

Starting back up again

February 15, 2009

So it’s been a long while since I’ve been on here, so I deleted all my old posts and I’m starting over. There is really no good reason why I’ve been gone for over a year except that I’m lost with my life right now and I’m hoping getting fit again is going to get my head back on track.

I started working out about 3 years ago; 6 days a week, cardio and lifting and saw great results in my body.I moved to a different city in NY about 2 years ago now for my BF. I had concerns moving here that I would put all the weight on that I tried so hard to loose while I was "back home" because we have drastically different eating habit, and I have no self control. Now, two years later and almost 15 lbs heavier, I’m mad at myself that I’ve let this happen. I’m not blaming it on him, of course, just wish we could eat healthy together and there would be less crap in the house to eat. Two other major factors in the weight gain are 1. My job - Work extrmemely long hours, sometimes more than 75-80per week with rare "scheduled" eating times. Sometimes going en entire 15 hour shift eating just some crackers and an orange. 2. After moving and living where I am right now for about 1 1/2 years, my boyfriend tells me that because the government paid for his medical school that he must go serve somewhere for 2 years. It can’t be the city we’re in and he wants to go to PR or virgin islands, leaving me here at the prime of my life, without a committment, and no difinitive answer an whether he has any interest in getting married or not.

So I’m left with depression and "whats a girl to do". Break up with a great guy who is everything I’v ever wanted, or continue on this never ending spiral of emotions that feeds into why I can’t get myself off the cough to be productive.

So, again, I’m starting over, today being a new day. Hopefully writing these things down will be therapy and I can get myself motivated at the same time.
