First Time on Keto - Experience Summary

I embarked on the KetoDiet exactly 16 days ago and I have to say, I had no idea what to expect (how my body/mind would react). The metabolic transition I experienced was quick, I was in keto the morning after I started and I experienced no mindfog or any other symptoms; in fact, I honestly felt more awake as though my mind was more active running on ketones.

To get myself on my way into Keto quicker I did an hour of HiT to deplete my glycogen storage which worked. Following that I’d go to the gym around 4 times a week. As for my diet.. well I can’t say I kept active track of what I ate. I only mentally noted how many calories I ate everyday and that was usually around 20g, no more than 30.

Only problem I experienced was recovery after gym (as I started this diet after a 5 month break from the gym, not the best idea!) not matter how much protein I ate after training I’d always wake up sore, but I suppose that’s partially due to my body still readapting to the intensive training after the break.

Overall after 16 days, I’ve lost around 2-3% bodyfat, I could have done more had I done HiT on my days off. Although it seems my body runs very effectively in KetoMode as I was lifting more than I remember at the gym and my stamina was good too.

On another note I never did a carbup day and I don’t think I will, I don’t see it helping me - What I might do in the future is split up my months of training into 2 weeks of intensive bulking where I might gain a little fat ie 1%, and then 2 weeks of extreme ketosis to get cut by 2-3% bodyfat while sustaining all the muscle growth from the previous 2 weeks.

I love Ketosis and will be using it on and off for as long as I can! I have exams coming up and I will stay on Ketosis as I find it far easier to concentrate during studytime without my usual insulin spikes and drops.
