DAY 8 OF 10 DAY’S OFF (no lifting) Surgery Over - My Mom Passed Away

No cardio or abs today.  Right before my surgery I got a call from my Mom’s Dr. who informed me that he had spoken to my brother and his wife and had intebated (sp?) her.  I freaking lost it! He knew this is not what she wanted.  I sent him her living will and I signed a DNR AND we talked about it.  Neither my brother who is metally hadicaped or his wife who is crazy have the authority to make any decesions about her care.  How dare that SOB do that.  Now I had to make the decession I never wanted to make, but I made him take it out.  So as you can imagine I was nice and calm for my surgery.  It all went well and I am typing this with no glasses.  Pain was minimul and nothing I could not handle on my own.  I was suppossed to go home and take a sleeping pill the Dr. gave me and then another one when if I woke up which I did at 2:00.  I had just taken the other one and was driffting off when the hospital called to tell me my Mom has died at 2:20.  I had to have my wife drive me down there because I was a little F-up’d from the pill and should not be driving.  I am happy this is over for her.  The last 4 weeks have sucked for her and I know it was time for her to go home.  I am sure she is the happiest she has been in a long time.  Knowing that she is finnaly at peace makes me feel peaceful as well.  Later my friends. 

DAY 6 and 7 OF 10 DAY’S OFF (no lifting) and EYE SURGERY

DAY 6: Did cardio at 4am on day 6.  Was going to do another double cardio day, but my mom’s Dr. got my brother and his wife all freaked out about the NDR order I signed and everyone was freaking out.  Thankfully my mom had taken my brother off the paperwork a couple of years ago as he is in no condition to be making any decisions about anyones health.  Now it is really getting ugly.  DAY 7: No work today for Johnnie!  Went to Starbucks (I have a gift certificate, not like I go there all the time OK!)  and got a coffee and got to the gym around 9′ish.  Did 4 sets of hanging leg lifts and headed down to the pit to some ab work on the wall mounted cable pulleys.  I was surprized to see my workout parter there as we are both "off" for the week.  And here I caught him working out.  So I sneaked up behind him and put him in a choke hold!  He said he was just doing a couple of bicep curls before he did some cardio… right.  I did 4 sets of 25 cable crunches and as the ab machine was taken I did 30 mins of the elliptical.  Now the ab machine was taken by to old guys (older then me and that is old!) who took turns sitting and standing and talking.  Use the freaking machines and get off!  Anyway I had to shower and get home to blog becuase my eye surgery is in 2-1/2 hours and I got crap to do!  I was a little nervous as my Dr. does not prescribe pain killers.  But "I know people" and I made a couple of calls today.  I’m covered should I need them.  Later my friends!

DAY 5 OF 10 DAY’S OFF (no lifting) Double Cardio Day!

Got up this morning at 4am.  Let the dog out, made a cup of coffee, turned on Cops (my absolute favorite TV show and hit the treadmill.  30 mins is over in no time when I watch Cops.  It’s almost Christmas and you Cop fans know what that means… that right, the annual Cops Ho Ho Ho Christmas Speical - nothing but Ho’s!  I wait all year for it.  It’s the best!  Anyway…  Headed over to the gym after work and hit the elliptical for 30 mins. on fat burning mode.  I kept having to slow down becuase I was going too fast and I only want to burn fat, not muscle.  I think I will do another double  day tomorrow.  Later my friends!

DAY 4 OF 10 DAY’S OFF (no lifting) and Left Over Turkey Blog

As I did cardio and abs yesterday I just did 30 mins. on the treadmill today.  I wanted to do the elliptical, but the ones I know how to work were are taken.  You might be asking how freaking hard could they be to work Jon?  Well without my glasses I can’t see to work the damn things and I just use the ones I know my memory.  I know, very sad but after this Thursday’s eye surgery this will never be a problem again!  Ok so how many way’s can you use that left over turkey?  Day 1) turkey enchiladas with refried pinto beans and spanish (brown) rice. Day 2) turkey and veggie soup with whole wheat pasta and matzo balls - yummy! Day3) turkey shepherds pie using the rest of the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and defatted gravey - yes most likely the least healthy dish but with portion control not too bad and it is damn good!  That’s it.  I am done with turkey.  I am thinking about a standing rib roast for Christmas.  That is some tasty animal flesh right there and you can make a wonderful beef and barley soup with the left overs.  I am getting hungry!  Later my freinds!

DAY 2 OF 10 DAY’S OFF (no lifting)

Ok day 2 of 10 and I already kinda blew it - I knew this was going to be hard!  Not bad, but I did do a few sets of calf raises yesterday. I know… but I didn’t have time to do them before the 10 days started so I thought WTH.  Also did 30 mins. cardio and abs yesterday.  Today I was a good boy and just did 30 mins of cardio.  Now that I don’t have workouts to report you guys are going to have to suffer through my personal stuff :)   Listen to this BS!  So last night my wife (ShortnSweet) and I went for massages.  I always rave about this one masseuse and always try to be sure and get her.  So after 90 mins. of pain and ecstasy she informs me that she is firing me as a client!  I am like WTF did I do?  She said no, I am very attracted to you and I just can’t do this anymore, I am sure you can appreciate that.  I’m like NO, I can’t - you can’t fire me!  I can’t believe it.  What was worse is then I had to explain to my wife why I won’t be going back to her - ShortnSweet doesn’t like anyone messing with her man.  Now this has become a whole "thing"  And all I want is a freaking massage damn it!  This really SUCKS!  I can hear you all laughing and it’s not funny!  Well, kinda I guess :)   Later my friends!

Last Lifting Work Out for 10 Days

Yesterday (Thanksgiving) I was so busy I didn’t have time to blog my last workout before my 10 day break.  My partner was traveling for the holiday so it was just me.  The gym did no open until 8 and I slept in so I did not get there until 8:20 - I know… slacker huh!  CHEST: Flys: 2X12X30, 2X12X35, 1X12X30. Flat Bench: 1X12X135, 3X8X155, 1X12X13. Fly Machine: 1X12X90,100. Incline Press Machine: 1X12X90, 3X10X100.  TRIS: Lying Bb Tri Extns:4X10X40. Tri Pulldowns: 4X55X10-12.  Forearms: about 100 misc. curls.  Still plan on doing cardio and abs during this time off from lifting.  In fact I am going to hit the cardio LongnHard :) to try and lower my BF% a little as I can see it has been creeping up on me.  And the abs… well I know they are in there somewhere and I might as well as work on them as someday in 2008 they will be visable… Yes!  As God is my witness I will never go hungry again, ops! I mean I WILL have visable abs in 2008!    Now I know you all are wating to hear what I had for Thanksgiving dinner!  Here it is: Roasted turkey, breast meat only (it might be Thanksgiving, but I’ not crazy!) stuffing, cranberry relish, creamed corn (sounds disgusting but I made it from scratch and it is O-so-good!) grean bean casserole.  I am sure you are all saying well that’s not too bad.  Let talk about the desert and snacks.  Lil Smokies in BBQ Sause and spinach dip on whole wheat crackers (a moment of sanity) and a small piece of chocolate pie that my wife made.  Oh and I forgot to add that I ate all the turky liver.  I would have eaten the heart too but it must have been a male turkey as it had no heart :)   It was also my yougest daughter’s 18th birthday, but you know me - no cake for Jonny!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and are reading this on your day off from work.  Later my friends!

Powering Down For The Week Off

2nd to last workout before I take a 10 day break.  My partner is out of town so I will do 10 days instead of just 7.  I am going to continue to do cardio and try to lower my BF% a little bit, but no lifting.  I intend to continue the bulk until the end of the year.  Just biceps tonight.  Alt. Curls: 2X12X30, 2X8X35, 2X12X30. Db Curls: 3X12X22.5.  BB Curls: 4X12X50.  Seated Conc. Curls: 2X12X20, 2X8X 25. Bent Over Conc. Curls: 4X12X15. That’s all I had time for.  Has to head out to the hospital.  Thank you all for your comments on my post.  You have all been very kind.  I know I am doing the right thing.  Don’t know what is for dinner, but I will find something.  Later my friends!

Legs Again Tonight (well kinda)

My partner sprained his ankle so he couldn’t really hit his legs LongnHard :) so we kind of took it easy.  I had to cut it short anyway as my mom has been in ICU for several weeks now :( and I have to get in the door before 6:30 of they make me wait until after the shift change is complete at 8:30.  Started with Leg Extns: 1X12X90, 105, 120, 135 1X10X150, 1X12X135.  Seated Leg Press: 1X12X205, 295, 310, 325,340,1X8X 355, 2X12X 340 I knew we were not going to do any squats so really hit the press machine) My partner bailed at this point so I hit the Hack Squat Mach 1X10X70, 2X10X90 - all the calf machines were busy and it was kind of a sh!tty day all in all so I just headed out to the hospital.  Dinner?  Prolly left overs from last night w/some whole wheat bread w/some natty PB.  Later my friends.

A Different Monday - Back Workout

Getting away from the normal Monday off.  My partner is going out of town and I am getting ready for my week off so tonight was a back workout.  Started out with Seated Rows: 1X12X100, 110, 120, 130, 140.  Incline Row Machine: 4X10X70 (I hate this one!) One arm rows: 1X12X50, 1X10X55, 60, 65.  Back machine: 2X12X100, 2X12X120.  One pan dinner tonight of brown rice, ground turkey breast, tomatoes, corn, white beans, and lot-0-spices.  Sounds ghetto, but very good!  This one week break is going to be tough.. I already have had the thought "I could just do some cardio and legs".   I may have to have myself banned to stay away!  Later my friends!  

Sunday Morning Workout

Was there at 6:55 because they open at 7:00 on Sunday - the guy who opens the doors did not show up until 7:25!  By then there were about 20 very unhappy boys and girls.  Not a big deal to me as I would have gotten up anyway - not like I am sleeping in or anything.  CHEST: Kinda struggled on the flat bench today: 2X10X155, 3X6-8X175, 1X8X155. Db Flys: 1X12X30’s, 3X12X35’s.  Incline Press Mach: 4X8-12X100. Fly Mach: 3X12X100.  TRICEPS: Lying Bb Tri Extns: 4X8X40. Seated Dip Mach: 1X10X100, 3X6-8X120. Tri pull Downs: 4X8-10X50. Single Arm Rev. Cable Curls: 2X10X25 and one more set of pull donws just to get a good burn!  Cheat meal last night was a T-bone, baked potato and veggies (I think they had butter on them - hence the cheat) washed down with 2 Hinny’s (more cheat!).  Later my friends!
