Surgery set back

March 27, 2009

I think I underestimated how much surgery would set me back. I have dropped a bunch of weight but I think I also lost a lot of mass in my legs which sucks. The plus is I can actually find pants that fit now. Still have a little over a month of good hard training for this transformation. I’m not QUITTING!!!

Damn

February 16, 2009

My goal is to lose some weight and lean out but I just lost 6lbs in 4 days due to my knee surgery so I know its not the kind of weight i want to lose. Its either that or water weight. Hopefully the latter. Its still exciting though because I have seen 274 in 10 years, lol. Still got a long way to go. I will post pic’s soon of my knee, it looked like a faking alien when I first took off the bandages.

knee surgery time, dang it

February 11, 2009

getting the old knee piece scoped manana. Not really looking forward to the minor set back. The good thing is its still early in the contest and a scope is minor. Hopefully its a speedy recovery and I really dont miss much gym time. Not that I plan on missing much anyways, just no heavy leg days in the near future. I give it 2 weeks to be back to the norm, grinding out some sick workouts.

Holla!

Holding Firm

February 5, 2009

I have been taking Leukic and Gakic and have had some good gains in strength. I have also been holding firm at 280 which is 25 lbs less than what I weighed at Thanksgiving. I am enjoying the motivation that entering the Muscletech contest has given me. I need to update my progress pics. I see a vast difference in tone and what not. I still have a long way to go but holding my weight for 2 weeks and not gaining anything back is good for me. I am just excited that with losing some weight I have maintained and even gained strength in some lifts. Lets see how much I can continue to improve.

Ouch

August 18, 2008

My body hurts and i love it. Just started back to hitting it hard. I took about 6 weeks after my  season off to let the old body heal up a bit before getting back in the gym. Its amazing how much you lose conditioning wise in 6 weeks, I lost a little bit of strength but mainly endurance. Its always fun to go in and push it to see just where you are. I have lofty goals for this off season and I have a ways to go. Good thing is I have until Feb. to reach them.

Oh Sh!t, Back at It

August 11, 2008

So , I’ve taken almost 6 weeks off of lifting and I’m starting to feel real soft! Now it’s time to get my ass in gear and get big again. Ha. Heading off to the gym to measure where i am at and get my work outs planned out. I’m still around 295 so I’m fine with staying there i just want to get stronger and lose some fat.

MAKING PROGRESS

September 14, 2007

Well I’m making progress as far as my strength goes, not really leaning up at all. I know its hard to do both but hey thats what I want to do. I’m still hanging around 290 which is good because comes Feb. I need to be between 295-305. So I dont really need to lose all that much, I would like to replace some fat with muscle. I feel that I am on the right track. Here’s a sample of my workout this past week.

Flat DB bench: 110’s x 10, 120’s x 10, 130’s x 8, 140’s x 8, 150’s x 6
DB incline: 3 sets with the 120’s
seat DB tri-extension: 3 sets 10 reps with 100DB (both arms not single arm, I wish)
Close grip pullover and press: 3 sets of 10 reps of both movements with 135 ez-curl bar
Seated DB military: 3 sets 75, 85, 95 for 10 each (would rather do shoulders on another day but I lumped mostly all presses into on day)
Shoulder combo’s: 25lb DB’s and do rear, side, and front.

I’m typically wiped out after that workout but making good gains in strength right now, kinda afraid of overworking though.

The following day I typically do legs, back, and bi’s.
Squats(bad knees so I keep it light, no more than 405 on my back ever!)
Extensions super-set with Curls 3×10 pretty much use the stack on those machines.
either do straight leg deadlifts of good mornings 3×10
Calf raises (I just step up on a machine with some sort of ledge and do them with body weight, I’ve never had big calf muscles anyway why try now)
Low rows
Lat pulls
DB rows or reverse grip BB rows
straight bar curls 135 3 sets as many as I can get
hammer DB curls or reverse curls (strait bar)

Thats  my current work out Monday and Tuesday, typically on Thursday and Friday its very similar but I switch the way I do some exercises. Say I did DB bench on monday I will do BB bench, or instead of squats I’ll do single leg leg press, if I went wide on lat pull dowsn I’ll go close grip the next time. I try to very up the movement so I can try to hit some different areas.
