Dessert Rape?
I was reminded once again today that I am still out numbered by the old school generation. By that I mean the generation that still believes that young people will not have to watch what they eat. That older people do not need to watch what they eat. Hell, stuff your face, you only live once! I get sick and tired of dealing with people criticizing me for watching what I eat. Especially around the holidays. Part of me has a bit of a panic attack. What will they feed me now. Is it rude if I eat before I go, and tell them that I just ate and still am stuffed?
I have never been a follower for traditions. I'm always reminded of that when the holidays come around. But, you show up just to make everyone happy. You pile on some food on your plate to make the person who made the food happy. So far, you have made everyone happy but yourself. But just as you thought things were over and the coast was clear. Dessert time. Never in my life did I ever eat a meal, and still be hungry for dessert.
Dessert is not part of my vocabulary. I am very thankful that cookies, ice cream, chocolate and anything creamy do not appeal to me. I passed up on dessert once. It was offered to me again. No thanks for the second time. And once again "are you suuuuure you do not want dessert?" Yes, I am sure for the third time.
Why is it so hard for someone to accept the fact that I do not want dessert? Why do people always try to force you to eat things you do not want to eat? I surely do not walk around offering the fat guy a carrot stick 4 times and asking him if he is sure.
How many days left til the next holiday??
Anyone else feel the same about holidays or am I the only jerk?
november-december has to be the worst time of year for anyone watching what they eat. thanks giving, christmas, newyears eve, and new years day. Everyone allways seems to have a party or making some speical food it sucks.
I think the next "holiday" is cinco di mayo which i don't care about but its the only one i can think of.
My wife and I face a constant tongue lashing by both of our families and friends all the time. All because of the same issue you deal with, we eat very clean, we eat in small portions, and we love to look our best. I have came to understand that some people truly just do not understand the discipline, and the self satisfaction you get when you work hard and get results. And of course there is the all too familiar "you think your fat?" lol, people just don't understand, and they never will until they experience an endorphine rush, or the feeling after you lift more weight than you ever have before, or to look into a mirror and have the body that YOU want!
This blog is funny and sad at the same time. I wrote a similar posting about co-workers trying to force feed you crap a few weeks ago.
When did it become a crime to NOT over eat?
I'm thinking about offering carrot sticks and almonds to everyone that I meet.
Im like you, i dont eat sweets etc. and the kicker to that is that on my spare time i make custom cakes, cookies, etc. and people always wonder how i can pass that up. I occasionally crave a little piece of chocolate, but i dont indulge in it.
People dont understand that we want to be healthy, i get all kinds of jokes in the office, and now that im lifting weights its even worse because its like wait u want to look like a man, or a woman with muscles is unattractive, etc.
I saw to each its one, people just dont understand. I just most of the times, dont say anything anymore whats the point, its only my opinion that really matters, because i hve to only worry about myself. I cant change what they think or how they live their lives.
@BestDressed, that is so funny, I wonder what they will think when you offer carrot sticks & almonds, would love to see their faces. haha
It is frustrating to be dedicated to a diet and have people around you either make fun of you or berate you for your eating choices. I will admit that I "cheat" occasionally, such as on a holiday, but get right back into my regular clean diet as soon as the day is over. Even when I cheat, I try to avoid the worst of the offending foods and stick to copious amounts of meat and complex carbs. Even so, despite my protests, my mother still sends me home with a massive bag of candy every Easter. I then proceed to bring it into the office where it is promptly devoured by unhealthy staff. I also admit that I DO have a sweet tooth, but only "give in" to the cravings when sweets are readily available. As long as I don't keep them around, I'm 100% safe...and even when they are around, thinking about how much I'm going to have to work out, in order to burn off the extra calories, is enough to dissuade me from eating just about anything.
