In the past two weeks, I’ve been working like crazy (thank God) monday thru saturday. So I decided to up my food intake, and increase meal quantity by one. I "was" averaging 300-340 grams of protein a day, with roughly 100-150 carbs, a day. Now, it’s close to 400 grams of protein, and 175-200 carbs. Feeling way better, and not feeling so sluggish now. In order of meals thru my day: shake, oatmeal & turkey sandwich, 2 chicken breast and sweet potatoe, bar, 3 beef patties, shake (b4 gym), chicken sandwich (after gym), and I decided to add another shake around 12:30 am..

Alright! That’s it! I’m in the damn trenches of a freakin’ damn depression!! Yes, I hit the weights very hard. I go for 4-5 mile runs. I’ve just lost some one I loved very deeply and there was no goodbye, no talk about what’s going on, nothing!! Just woke up one day and she was gone. Four days into this after finding out and I think my body is just giving up. I know it’s mental, but my mind is killing everything. Not eating, sleeping, barely making it to work and then barely doing any, no motivation what-so-ever!!! It’s just about hard as *#&$ to breathe. If it wasn’t for, primarily, my son and the gym, I don’t know what I would do other than sit on a freakin’ corner and sob like a little bitch!!Oh well

In life, people will come and go all day and night long. Most will be there to help, and most will be there to feed off you or take some thing from you whether physical or mental. I’ve given a lot to people, but have had even more taken away. I’ve never considered myself a good guy. I’ve always said I’m a bad guy doing good things. And yet people only see the good I do in their eyes. I’ve taken peoples’ problems (depression, money, pain, etc…) and have made them mine to bare, never asking for anything in return. I’ve lost money, women, friends, power, and some times, my mind, to lift the person or people and push them forward on the right road. Never asking for anything, not even a thank you.Why I do these things, I do not know. I do know that it’s a great feeling to know that someone can rely on me. I’ve always tried to take that as the thank you or the reward for helping if there was one. I basically do the wrong thing, and internalize it, filter it, and get rid of it some how. I learned to take it to the weights!!! It’s a bad day, I put another 90#’s on the bar. Put thru more crap that day, another 120#’s. People will smile in your face, then stab you in the back after abusing and using you and leaving you for dead. 50#’s, is 50#’s!!! A weight will never change it’s weight. Call me crazy, but dumbells and barbells and I have a love affair more passionate than any other person I’ve every loved, except for me deceased wife. In the end, weights is the only person I can trust!!

Don’t know if you’ve tried the new muscle milk RTD’s. Honestly, never a fan of muscle milk. I’m always sticking to my Muscletech products, but the only protein available at the time was one of these Muscle RTD’s. It has high proteins, creatine-I believe 5g, and I believe glutamine in it. An all around good RTD, especially for bodybuilders. Taste great too (that’s really the reason I didn’t buy Muscle Milk products, they tasted nasty!!). Try it.

Jay cutler just did what no other past Mr. Olympia’s have done, REGAIN THE TITLE! Defeated one of the most legendary Mr. O’s in recent history, Ronnie Coleman. Successfully defended it one year later, loses it to Dexter, then wins it back in 2009. Talk about dedication and discipline. In that catagory, I put Branch Warren; the muscle freak. After all of these years, Branch finally makes it up there in the Mr. O. He’s due soon too. With DEDICATION and DISCIPLINE, everyone can accomplish anything. Spread the word, because everybody needs the DD’s. My congrats to all of the Olympia competitors; it was a great Mr. Olympia.

If you picked up the last issue of FLEX or Muscle Development, you should have seen an article or read about the lack of porportion between the mid-section (abs) and rest of body. THERE IS NO MID-SECTION IN TODAYS BODYBUILDERS! Look at Arnold, Lou, Dorian, Franco, etc…. All of them could suck in (vaccuum) their mid-sections, on stage or at any time of year, and their mid-section vanished; thus, exploiting the rest of their body even more. Gotta admitt, I am partial to the greats and their style of training. Especially their nutrition aka food intake. But having a mid-section that is almost the size of my chest, does not appeal to me at all.

I saw a video with the X man, Tony Freeman, on bb’s video list where he did a close grip, under-handed barbell row on the smith machine. It’s a great upper back builder. I did it in my last back routine and I only used 125 #’s, and it felt great. Of course this is based on my doing it correctly, tho I tried it and felt it primarily on my lower traps. Nice nice nice. I don’t know any other way to describe the feeling from this technique. I strongly suggest using or experimenting with this technique in your routine. I usually start the day with a protein shake. Gives me the push I need, before I go for a quick mile run, instead of having a cup of coffee in the morning. For the past two days, I haven’t been having a shake.. I’ve been having two servings of fat free cottage cheese with some blueberries. Awesome quick rush before I run and it tastes better than a shake. I gotta admit, I do miss those bacon egg and cheese sandwiches I used to eat years ago, but it’s not worth it. Finally getting this healthier diet easier to manage.
