My “Cheat” Day
I spent a day out on the town, today. Met a friend for lunch and then we saw ‘Wicked’ playing at the Fox in downtown Atlanta. Of course, I planned for the occasion and brought a homemade protein bar (was gooey by the time I ate it at intermission).
But the whole eating lunch out thing was kinda scary for me. I’m used to eating at home, and well, the place we went to wasn’t the healthiest choices for a clean meal. I managed pretty well, though, I think. Oh. And I totally started the day off cheating. My mother made potato salad for a gathering she went to yesterday, and had some left over. So I measured out a cup of it and nom nom nom’d my way through it for breakfast.
An odd thing about lunch… I couldn’t eat much of the sweet stuff. Not cause I was being waifish. I wasn’t. But I didn’t want to foul up, and for another thing, having not had sugar in awhile, the stuff is POTENT. The little I did afford myself rushed me. It felt so weird, and perhaps was not as bothersome as a heavy buzz from alcohol, but annoying all the same. My body really is changing, and that includes how it reacts to junk. I’m not craving it, and when I have it, I’m disappointed that it doesn’t taste as good as remembered.
It’s not worth it to me to have something like that and know that I’m going to have to work that much harder to feel clean and strong again in a day or two, much less the possibility of putting on fat I don’t need.
Ugh. Three days in a row with no lifting*. I’ll feel good in the morning, when I head to the gym.
*Friday, errands and chores kept me from the gym until it was too late (closes at 5 pm). Saturday, I was very weak and near-ill feeling, so I didn’t want to risk getting myself sick. I caught up on rest, instead. Feeling better for it, too!

I think it’s awesome that you’re holding yourself accountable for everything, good for you! And yeah, my body lets me know right away when I’ve eaten something I shouldn’t have…it get’s rid of it….RIGHT AWAY! lol Amazing what the body can do.

I have avoided sugar for months and then Halloween comes around… I ate some of those little candy bars just because they were there. My blood sugar dropped like a rock about an hour later and I felt terrible! It’s back to fruit for me!
Your food for the day looks OK except for the potato salad and Cinnabon roll (but ooo, they are tempting). Homemade potato salad runs about 358 calories with 20 g of fat per cup so good for you on measuring it out instead of just spooning it out on your plate.
A single "classic" Cinnabon roll has 730 calories (216 calories from fat alone), 24 g total fat, and 114 g of carbs! Their "min" roll is a little better with 300 calories (99 calories from fat), 11 g of total fat and 45 g of carbs. So if you really have to have a Cinnabon roll, get the mini size and then see if you can nibble only half of that besides.
I believe in moderation in all things, including diet. If you really want something, go ahead and eat it but try a smaller portion with savoring every bite. If your cheat days are infrequent, they will balanced out by your good days. You are doing a wonderful job being responsible for your body and what goes in it. Keep going with this!

I guestimated with the cinnabon, because it was a little cinnamon roll that was served alongside bread rolls, but it oozed sugar and butter, so I figured I’d go with the best to use a similarity. LOL
It all worked out, though. Back to clean eating for me. Too many cheats this past week. Managed to lose weight despite it, though. Keeping on with the lifting and it’s doing great things, I can tell!
And yes, the body is an amazing machine!
Thanks for the replies, y’all!
