Well, Labor Day weekend came and went. Was it ever here? I wasn’t able to get that tan that I originally had wanted. Turns out hurricane Gustav spoiled my Labor Day weekend. I ended becoming a safe house once again for hurricane victims from Louisiana. The last time this happened was again during Labor Day weekend 3 years ago during hurricane Katrina and Rita. I ended up housing 9 ppl in my little 1 bedroom apartment. I had to give up my bed for an entire 2 weeks
. I had to sleep on the floor… how’s that for trying to recoupe from intense workouts? Despite all of my griping, there was a positive side to all of this… I did get to spend a lot of quality time with family
! And that’s always a good thing!
On the downside, I’ve been sick for the past couple of days now with a slight fever and body aches. So unfortunately no workouts for me this entire week. I feel guilty but at the same time I know I have to let my body recover 100% before I hit the gym again. Next week I’ll be back with a vengence though!
As a discussion to one of my friend’s blogs on here (mquang), we are starting to see more and more obese children as well as adults in today’s society. This is especially true in America who I believe is amongst one of the fattest nations (if not the most). It’s sad to say, but true nonetheless. As much as I love our nation, the growing number of overweight people is astounding to say the least. With all the new gadgets and technology trends, less and less people are spending time outdoors doing activities. Instead a growing number of people spend countless hours in front of their TV sets with TiVo and BlueRay dics, etc. All I have is the basic cable programming without all of that fancy digital satellite with "over 200 channels". I figure I hardly spend time in front of the TV nowadays… so why would I need to spend money on all those channels? How much time do YOU spend in front of the TV?? If more parents today would just spend more of that "quality family time" with their kids doing outdoor activities and showing them how to eat healthy, then today’s society would be more fit in general and would be able to lead more healthy lifestyles. Cheers until next time… train hard!
