I started on my new 5×5 push/pull training routine earlier this week on Monday. I love the new soreness that I’m getting. I’ve been having such deep sleep these past couple of days because once I hit the bed, I can’t move due to my soreness. I’m really enjoying the push/pull as well compared to hitting muscles in the same working group. By incorporating push/pull into my 5×5 training, I don’t feel as weak once I start on the opposing muscle. Whereas before for example if I hit my back & bi’s on the same day, I’m usually pre-fatigued already once I get to my bi routine. Now instead I do back & chest. This way when I get to my chest portion of my routine I feel I still have enough energy since it’s an opposing muscle group. This gives me a feeling of revitalized energy… I love it!!!

Today after my lunch break, I walked back into the office where I work. Lo and behold, a big box of Krispy Kreme donuts. I noticed on top of the box there was a big sticker label that read "0 Grams Trans Fat". I just thought that was funny. About a year ago, that would have been me grabbing two of the sugary glazed donuts. But I just smiled and walked on… because this is the life I choose. I’m happy with my progress and workouts. I have no regrets and I will not look back.

Well, Labor Day weekend came and went. Was it ever here? I wasn’t able to get that tan that I originally had wanted. Turns out hurricane Gustav spoiled my Labor Day weekend. I ended becoming a safe house once again for hurricane victims from Louisiana. The last time this happened was again during Labor Day weekend 3 years ago during hurricane Katrina and Rita. I ended up housing 9 ppl in my little 1 bedroom apartment. I had to give up my bed for an entire 2 weeks
. I had to sleep on the floor… how’s that for trying to recoupe from intense workouts? Despite all of my griping, there was a positive side to all of this… I did get to spend a lot of quality time with family
! And that’s always a good thing!
On the downside, I’ve been sick for the past couple of days now with a slight fever and body aches. So unfortunately no workouts for me this entire week. I feel guilty but at the same time I know I have to let my body recover 100% before I hit the gym again. Next week I’ll be back with a vengence though!
As a discussion to one of my friend’s blogs on here (mquang), we are starting to see more and more obese children as well as adults in today’s society. This is especially true in America who I believe is amongst one of the fattest nations (if not the most). It’s sad to say, but true nonetheless. As much as I love our nation, the growing number of overweight people is astounding to say the least. With all the new gadgets and technology trends, less and less people are spending time outdoors doing activities. Instead a growing number of people spend countless hours in front of their TV sets with TiVo and BlueRay dics, etc. All I have is the basic cable programming without all of that fancy digital satellite with "over 200 channels". I figure I hardly spend time in front of the TV nowadays… so why would I need to spend money on all those channels? How much time do YOU spend in front of the TV?? If more parents today would just spend more of that "quality family time" with their kids doing outdoor activities and showing them how to eat healthy, then today’s society would be more fit in general and would be able to lead more healthy lifestyles. Cheers until next time… train hard!

Hmmm… I was considering getting a tan this Labor day weekend. I have big quads and a little bit of definition on them. But maybe a tan would help bring them out more. The sad part is that I don’t have any plans this weekend other than possibly this
and recoupe from training. In other news, only 2 more month until I’ll be sunbathing in Hawaii!!! Whoo-hoo!!

Wow, it’s really amazing to watch all these top athletes from around the world perform at their very best. I’m in awe of the great physiques of all the male gymnasts. I’d like to get my arms, shoulders, and chest into the same top shape as some of these great athletes. Watching the men on the rings makes me wonder about their training regiments and diets. I wonder how their diets and training compare to that of a bodybuilder. Regardless, this year is a year to remember (8/8/08). The ‘Bird’s Nest’ and ‘Water Cube’ as they call it are simply amazing. I’m glad I had a chance to visit Beijing last year in 2007 and see both of them before the games. They’re really a sight to see.

I’m going to Hawaii baby!!! I now have my hotel, flight, and convertible car confirmed. I’ll be vacationing and island-hopping for two weeks in sunny Maui & Kauai. Must make sure I have some abs and a nice tan before leaving for Hawaii in November!! I’m now just slightly over 5 weeks into my cutting phase.

It’s been just slightly over a month since I’ve been cutting and I’ve been getting more and more accustomed to my level of training. So last night I stepped up my cardio session. Normally during my HIIT, I aim to get to and stay within 70-95% of my MHT. Last night after upping my intensity, I went up to 100% at times. Is that even possible?? Today I’m completely drained. I haven’t felt this exhausted from cardio since my first day of cutting. I wonder what effect it’ll have by going up so high on my heart rate. Does anyone know?? I just hope I can recover in time for my workout later today.

I’m 3 weeks into my cut phase. So far I’ve dropped about 3 lbs. I’ve definately noticed some differences in terms of my fat levels dropping. But I’m still no where near being "ripped"… yet. Hopefully I will be somewhat soon though so that I don’t lose any motivation. Tonight I’ll be doing my chest and tricep workout. I’m looking forward to it. Summer is coming up fast so hopefully I’ll see more changes soon. This morning I just placed my order in for some Flax Seed Oil Softgels and a Multi-Vitamin pack.

Last night I had another HIIT cardio session. I had my heart rate kept around 75-90%. And after about the first 10 minutes, it actually seemed to go by quickly. This is the first and probably only time you’ll hear me say this… but last night’s cardio session wasn’t all that dreadful. I actually didn’t mind it as much. Maybe someday eventually I just might start to enjoy it… LoL.
