Even the best laid plans…
So I had this great 4 week training plan laid out and I was sych about it. Then I realized I pulled a muscle in my right gam area. I thought I was just sore from the bulgarian lunges I had done during my May training plan, but eventually came to the conclusion that it was a pulled or strained muscle. If you have ever pulled a hamstring or glute muscle you know that they take weeks to heal. So I had to put my June training plan on hold since it included leg work that just aggrevates it. It is finally starting to feel better now. But then this week I did something funky to my upper back/neck. I’m not sure if it was from an odd sleeping position I had one night this week or if I actually did it doing Y-Squats. Either way, it kept me down twice this week.
Having to take time off sucks! But it is inevitable in order for these minor glitches to heal. It has also forced me to be creative with my workouts. Because I have been limited to upper body work the past couple weeks (to allow my gam thing to heal), I have come up with a couple killer upper body workouts. I shared one with my husband and his workout buddy and my husband told me he could barely shave that morning because his arms were totally wiped. By taking time off I’ve also been able to get caught up on a few other things to make me feel a little more balanced.
I hope to pick up my June training plan next week. For the leg stuff, I will keep it light. Let’s hope the pain is gone for good. Even the best laid plans can be rescheduled.
