Great new diet… the SD Diet!!
Most weeks I’m good about following it, and some weeks I’m not so good about following it. The eating plan I following is called the Self-Discipline Diet. It is also known as the ‘think twice before putting it in your mouth diet," or the "I am fitness, therefore I eat clean" diet. If I break-down and have a piece of cake loaded with frosting (which I love), I say to myself "might as well wipe this on my ass, because that’s where it is going". Little reality checks like that at least help me decide to have a small piece of cake. Let’s face it… the hardest part about leading a "fit" lifestyle is the clean eating. Eating is something we do 3-6 times a day, therefore it is a constant focus. And it requires a tremendous amout of self-discipline. Luckily, after a while you crave the healthy stuff and when you do decide to indulge, a small amount does the trick. Not to mention the fact that the lean cuts of meat and produce are more expensive and less convenient for families like mine that are constantly on the go. Self-discipline also kicks in here too. To compensate for our weekly $130 (average) grocery bill, we eat out less. To save us time during the week, I do a lot of prep (cutting veggies, marinating chicken, making dishes I can throw in the freezer and heat up later) Sunday afternoons instead of lounging around. So self-discipline comes in many forms when it comes to my eating plan. There is no magic diet or foods that result in a lean, athletic physique. It is all about self-discipline, self-control, planning, and making trade-off… and no one said it was easy.
