3 days in

June 18, 2008

I know its hard to judge after only 3 days but i think im not doing bad at all - today has been 3d consecutive day of running and i ran (amazing for me) 5mi of hills+speed intervals in about 42minutes burning some 500cal and im proud of it, especially because i didnt want to die after it and found more then enough strength for some killer abs routine with friend :D
"Nutrition" is looked after as well - i usually give up in first 2 days of new diets, so this means that  "Nutrition Plan" im following now has some potential. Aaaaand im down to 57,2kg now, which is lowest yet comparing my usual weight interval 57,8-60kg. Hope its not only water and sweat loss :P
Im going to do my best for it to last this time. The only thing im scared of now is doing too much of cardio and getting tired or exhausted… well, we’ll see how it goes.
PS - Youre right - Nutritional Plan sounds less scary… And yes - im showing only pics of progressed body parts, why would i post pics of lagging lower body when there is obviously no visible progress.

It’s time!

June 16, 2008

Finally, I think its time to start the damned Cutting diet and extra amounts of cardio instead of just planning it. Im working on a increased cardio already - just today did 6k run with average pace of 9,5km/h and few intervals (just for fun). Will do a morning run tomorrow as well. Dont even have a problem with having a proteine shake after workout anymore. But THE DIET arghhhh!!! :(

Im never good with diets, but i think i will have to overcome this fear of dieting and restricting foods. It wont be easy, but i have no choice - the hips and legs just wont give up. I keep developing muscle and i can see its there when i work out or flex, but as soon as i relax - creepy fat takes over :( I think ive been too nice to my legs in the past, so here it goes - im starting cutting diet tomorrow and will kick myself out of bed in the morning for extra run before work. No mercy! Hurray :D

Back to gym

May 15, 2008

Ufff what a week it was, ive let myself go this time… went home for a week to sort out some important papers etc so was away from gym for all that time (except for brief session in local gym with 20min run and some abs). Tried my best not to overeat as i usually do when i go home… managed quite ok i think, since mum tries to maintain a healthy diet for some time now, so there were no piles of yummy but guity pleasures. I still admit that i couldnt stay away from some of my favourite sweets…

So now im back in stressful London and back to gym. One thing that caught my eye is my weight… i havent trained for more then a week, stopped my Fat buring pills for that time and didnt count calories or watch strictly what i eat, yet in some mystirious way i lost more then 3 kg. Ever since i started training hard and watching what i eat in the beginning of Arpil my weight was jumping between 60 and 58kg never going below 57,8 or so. And now after some time of being lazy and eating sweets i am barely 56kg…

Now im not starving and im drinking plenty of water (actually was drinking like hell for few days to evercome cold) so it couldnt be dehidration or smth else food/drink related. Could it be that my body started eating muscle??? I just cant imagine what made my body lose the weight it was trying so hard to keep while i was killing myself in the gym… or did it finally give up and im in for some big progress?

It just keeps confusing me over and over as usual…

Faster

April 23, 2008

Did 30min running interval workout in the gym today and noticed one weird thing. My endurance on a treadmill has improved in last few weeks. Im not sure if its a long term/permanent improvement or just temporary (because of better energy or smth)…Now i never expected strength excercise to give me more speed, but it did. And now i had to increase my "fast" intervals to 14 km/h (i think its km not miles on treadmill, but i might be wrong, im horrible with measurments) as 12 just didnt work anymore - i can run on 12 and even 13 km/h   continuously for about 3-4 times the usual interval length. Just to compare - few weeks ago 12,5 was as fast as i could run and 1 minute on it left me gasping for air. I think thats a good improvement for now - like an additional bonus. I do enjoy running fast, wonder if i can increase speed even more as a result of further strength training… could be cool :)

Am I stuck???

April 21, 2008

Im not quite sure, but lately im feeling stuck and unmotivated… mostly suffers my diet which keeps slipping from time to time lately - doesnt mean i eat alot of crap as i used to, but im very tempted to do so. And didnt count/watch calories taking my word for it - wouldnt lead anywhere good because some things just tend to go unnoticed this way.

im stuck again with the same problem - i just dont seem to lose any weigth (FAT), its there and looks like its not planning to go anywhere no mater all the effort i put into eliminating it. Sure muscles are more toned thats why i look overall more slender - which is not bad. But the layer of fat is still present and very much visible when im in a relaxed state :( i start hating this "softness" with all my heart now because i feel strong and tight (especially during workouts) and this thing just hides it all!!! Does anyone have any idea how fat behaves and why its so stubborn? i wonder if all people suffer this much with it.
and btw - i think those stupid scales lied about 14,5% BF…

Going home for a weekend in few weeks time and will most definately see trainer whos working with my mum - (shes ripped!!) wonder if he will give any suggestions with nuitrition and programm. Hes quite good from what i remember and hes europes BB chanpion, so its something to look forward to.

Body Fat %

April 15, 2008

Today I finally had time to visit my old gym to see if i can measure my Body fat %. Since my scale was no good in helping me evaluate the progress from my daily excercise and new smarter diet plan, measuring body fat % seemed like a way to go.

So I got down there and trainer was nice enough to measure my stats with some mystical machine called "body composition analyser". And - oh glory - it showed i had 14.5% fat. I was soooo happy I could have hugged him then. I do understand that most of machines cant be perfectly accurate and there is some tolerance, but for comparison - almost a year ago (same machine, same gym) showed 21% body fat. It confirms my progress and that im not just seing things in the mirror.
Im quite happy now and my motivation is all the way up :) ))

Strongest muscle???

April 12, 2008

Ok so I had a leg day today…

Was struggling a bit - slightly out of breath and unstable, maybe because of stress, lack of energy or was just tired. or (most likely) its all in my mind.

One thing i noticed, ever since i started this new program inspired after reading this article http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/berardi13.htm  my muscles keep getting stronger almost every day. it sounds incredible and maybe im a bit overwhelmed with it, but following this program (altered a bit to my liking) i have to increase weight im using almost every second time im in the gym, well at least enough to notice it. im quite sure that muscles arent growing though - only getting denser probably. also noticed that as far as legs go - my speed and stamina (spinning or running) has improved quite dramatically. which is a great thing i suppose. the only thing that concearns me now is - does that actually help me to lose that layer of fat at all? hmmmm cant tell

also one weird thing i noticed today - my calves seem to be the strongest muscle in the body… is that normal at all??? i was doing the calf extensions and i had to increase the weigth to 80kg to actually feel anything and so its just enough for 6 reps (5 sets). no other body part or muscle can even get close to that now - i think closest one is leg press 60kg. others are far behind 45kg mark (even less for arms). why calves are so much stronger then other parts? i never actually trained those separately before now, so they are definetely not overpumped. go figure o_O

Also i wonder if i need to alter my upper body workout plan soon. i want to make my shoulders, chest and back a bit wider to make body more proportionate. i guess to do that ill need to make those muscle grow?! still need to research into that. my lower back is generally quite strong but my upper back, together with shoulders , chest and arms are weak as hell. do i make them grow by increasing reps to 8-12 from my 6?

Decisions, decisions…

But on the bright side - i have a bit of cheat day today (didnt have one for 3 weeks now). im not sure if its ok to do on a workout day, but ill do it anyways :) and im going to have pizza, lower cal version of course :P

YAY

Progress…

April 11, 2008

Lately im starting to doubt my progress in terms of getting in shape and especially losing weght. Ever since i started my routine in gym and improved diet i just dont seem to lose any weight - i lost max 2kg and rest is changing within range of 2-3kg every day… it freaks me out because one day im 57,5kg and in few days time 59,2 and then again 58 >:( i mean i understand that i store some food when i eat etc, but why such a dramatic change all the time… and the worst thing is - it doesnt stay down even bit, so i dont know if i even make any progress there. kinda kills my motivation at thi point.

on the other hand i can see some results in the overall shape and look of body, and my muscles definetely got noticably more dence, but still they are covered by layer of stubborn fat which doesnt seem to go anywhere. i have been doing weight training every second day with massive cardio sessions in between, like high intensity spin classes or interval runs, plus i take Lipo 6 for a week now, but still i cant see any fat going. well a bit - my belly fat got thinner and i lost almost one cup size :( but no big changes where i want them to be.

i wnder if it will take really long time to eliminate this stubborn fat, because i do lose motivation over time if i dont see results. and how do some people manage to lose weight and tighten so fast anyway???

wait and see i guess

Sunday morning at the gym

April 6, 2008

Spent sunday morning at the gym - yay how exciting!

But it was in fact quite special day. Today I managed to wear (while looking decent) a tight gym tank top that was put away after i gained some weigth. With that top also came realisation of progress i made in last few weeks of training and balanced low cal diet (i never imagined i could hold on to). To speed things up and see some more dramatic results im also adding Lipo 6 to this company. In fact today was 3 day since i started taking it and im quite pleased with the way things are going and im looking forward to some progress in near future…

There are some minor downsides to using this fatburner, but i think i can write it off to my body getting used to it. Main thing i noticed - it really makes me crave food less. Which should theoretically be great… but its not, because it makes me not hungry at all and when i do eat (because i understand i need to) it makes me feel quite a bit sick. And then of course there also comes in endless extra energy - which is great, but not when you cant use it all up… and then you end up like me at the moment lol its 4am on Monday morning and i have lecture at 10… and i havent slept since 8am Sat. Not that im horribly energetic, just cant fall asleep. And i only took 1 pill at 9am and 1 before gym at noon. Cant even imagine what will happen if i take whole recomended dosage :P

It does great job in gym though, so i think ill continue and see what happends next. After all i really want to see those results before summer begins :)
