Gym Etiquette Gripe
I know many of you have all heard so many gripes and Rants before but it helps me to share and learn from you.
I got an ear full from a person on a machine today, it used to be us girls were afraid to go into the weight room for fear of bothering the guys in there, I am more afraid to go near the machines for fear of being bitched at by some of the machine members of society. lol Some of those women can be down right mean and they are the ones sitting there talking on their cell phone or to another person next to them but not doing anything on the machine besides resting.
I made the mistake today of asking if I could kindly get in a set as well. I did time my request so that I didnt interrupt her…just in case she was in the middle of something.
I know everyone has a certain rest period during specific sets but this lady, long story short, proceded to tell me that she is well aware of gym etiquette and informs me that the rest period is a portion of the set where she has every right to still spend it occupying the machine. She was on her cell phone for like 10 minutes!!!!
I am much more comfortable with the big guys and fellow sisters in the weight room. They have always been welcoming where ever I go, are all very kind and extremely helpful when needed.
Much love to my weight lifting brothers and sisters out there!!!
But still, this lady really bitched me out…
Ok rant over - thanks for listening!!!
XOXO

Cell phones in the gym???? What a dumb @#@%$@% You have every right to be pissed off. You are in a gym or workout facility to "WORKOUT"! Keep working out…and avoid losers that are in your way. Tim

Ok, here is how you handle this situtation…
Pick up a 45 lb plate, walk over next to the machine and drop in on her toe. Works every time.
Man, the nerve of some people. I would have snatched her up and used the machine anyway. "WORKING IN" is part of sharing a qym. yes, sometimes it’s a pain, but it’s part of it, so get use to it.

You could inform her that while gym etiquette allows you to occupy the machine, it is still bad manners to yell at people in public!
It’s ok though, report it to management if she really is just spiting you and talking for 10 minutes, that’s bullcrap! Keep truckin!

You could have told her rest period is over and to start lifting weights. Put the @#$% phone down or get out of the way. Other people would like to use the equipment too. Your choice, if that didn’t work then like the guy said, drop a 45 lb plate on her toe. Just keep on working out and have fun.

I hate when that happens. when it does i ilke to use a different machine than i’m used to. get a new angle. that way my blood pressure stays down.

I’m very sorry to hear that happened to you but unfortunately this will probably not be the last time you experiance this type of behaviour in a gym, I just hope its a long time inbetween for you.

Cell phones - the bane of society. I’m really puzzled - what did these people do 15 years ago? Were they recluses on their phones all night when they weren’t working? Or is it just that they have such important matters to be discussed in the gym, restaurant, pharmacy, grocery store, elevator, etc?

That is so out of order! I’d tell her that the only ‘muscle’ the phone was working out was her mouth and clearly that was big enough! Then I’d just sit there and watch her…if she said anything else, I’d tell her I was taking MY rest period and to butt out. Might get you a rep but should work a treat…

Next time you see her, watch to see where’s she going and jump ahead of her. Get on the machine she was aiming for and SIT THERE, bite your finger nails, twirl your hair~ whatever. Wait until she finds the next machine she wants and repeat.
You may not get the best workout but it will be good fun!
