Water Retention post competition NEED HELP please

Monday, April 20th, 2009

I need a little help from some people who’ve been through this…

I competed in the Emerald Cup Friday night…Awesome event. Did the sodium/water deplete with prep. Today though my nice little ankles look like cankles haa ha! I know there’s some water retention because you’re putting some food back into your body and water that hasn’t been there. I have eaten some junk in the last couple of days and I’m not working out because I’m cramming with homework that I put off to do the show. So I haven’t been super bouncing off the walls like usual.

First, is this totally normal?

Second, can it be avoided or minimized for next time if I plan my post meals better?

Third, when should swelling go down and what can I do to help it now?

Should I go for a run…is this bad on the heart? just questions from a rookie ( : I did place 5th at the ECup though!!
Anything would be helpful for sure!! The Emerald Cup was great! I’ll blog about my experience when I finish my homework.

Thank you thank you!

Keely

And so it begins!!

Monday, November 24th, 2008

I’ve been working out for a long time now. In fact I’ve been a personal trainer, but now I’m taking training, my own training to a new level. I am going to compete in my first figure competition in March 09! Sure I’m excited, but a little nervous. This is going to be somewhat of an experiment for me since it’s SO new!

I went to my first fitness/figure workshop a couple of weekends ago with IFBB Pro, Tanji Johnson. It was great!

I have exactly 18 weeks until the competition. Today I started two-a-day cardio to knock of some of that fat. I gain muscle mass fairly easy, which is nice, but my body also loves to store fat! My workouts will include a lot of sprint training for awhile…I’ve found that is the best way to lean myself out quickly (along with much much more). Again though, much of this is going to be trial and error. Any encouragement over the next several months is always appreciated!
