Water Retention post competition NEED HELP please
I need a little help from some people who’ve been through this…
I competed in the Emerald Cup Friday night…Awesome event. Did the sodium/water deplete with prep. Today though my nice little ankles look like cankles haa ha! I know there’s some water retention because you’re putting some food back into your body and water that hasn’t been there. I have eaten some junk in the last couple of days and I’m not working out because I’m cramming with homework that I put off to do the show. So I haven’t been super bouncing off the walls like usual.
First, is this totally normal?
Second, can it be avoided or minimized for next time if I plan my post meals better?
Third, when should swelling go down and what can I do to help it now?
Should I go for a run…is this bad on the heart? just questions from a rookie ( : I did place 5th at the ECup though!!
Anything would be helpful for sure!! The Emerald Cup was great! I’ll blog about my experience when I finish my homework.
Thank you thank you!
Keely

Congrats on your comp! YES-100% totally normal…give it a couple of days & you will be back to normal…no, nothing I know to combat this in the future b/c you can’t continue to deplete water BUT it does get better each time you compete b/c your body is used to the changes! Relax & have fun!

Good job at the Emerald Cup!…P.S. try doubling up on the asparagus, it’s used to eliminate extra water so it may help.
