When to weigh yourself?

When is the best time of day to weigh yourself to get the most accurate reflection of your weight?

I have been weighing myself at night for the progress section on my BodySpace ~  This weekend, on Friday, for some reason I decided to weigh myself before I went to bed and than weighed myself again the next morning and my weight had decreased by 7 pounds.  I tried this again on Saturday night and Sunday morning my weight had decreased by 5 pounds.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

I usually weigh myself 1st thing in the morning, before liquids, food, and after a restroom break. Throughout the day, you consume food and liquids so your weight is going to fluctuate. I found that if you weigh yourself in the morning, I think you’ll get the most accurate measurement of your weight–you look amazing btw!

Thanks for the reply, I will be weighing my self in the morning. I love the way I look and feel first thing in the morning. Too bad by the end of the day my morning appeal is lost.

You look really great too :-)

Thank you girl! I appreciate it! I know what you mean–6 pack all shredded…coffee, a gallon of water, and protein pancakes later I’m a bloated whale! lol! Good luck with all your goals–can’t wait to see you on the cover of Oxygen!

I think ambriossa is right. I was always told to weight yourself in the morning as your stomach had digested everything by then and you had been fasting while asleep. Hope this helps.

That’s interesting. I always weigh myself in the morning and once a week. usually fridays or saturdays. it would take a lot of mental strength for me to weigh myself at night before i go to bed. ;-)

Chalk up another vote for first thing in the morning. I think that provides the most consistent set of conditions you can get.

Yea, i agree. In the morning if i weigh myself in @ 209… then later in the evening im like @ 204,205, at least 5#’s heavier, & alot of times i feel fat! or like bloated! But anyway, i like yer bodyblog Kathleen.

I just ran into this blog about three weeks ago and when I read it I was astonished with the weight gain/loss you had during the day given your size. It seemed really high to me but I’ve never really weighed myself like that. Since then I’ve actually been weighing myself a few times a day during the day for a couple of days a week. I haven’t come anywhere near that much difference in a day and I weight considerably more than you. How the heck were you losing or gaining up to 9 pounds a day? Were you measuring yourself on the same scale each day wearing the same amount of clothing (or lack of it) each time? My weight only fluctuates about +/- 3 pounds during the day even if I’m highly physically active.
