What happens now…

February 6, 2009

What happens now? That’s the question I have been asking myself all week. I really have fallen into a hole lately. I’ve only been getting in about 10-20 minutes of exercise during my lunch break. My diet has totally been blown out the water. And the worst thing of all is I’ve gained weight! I’m back up six pounds! I hadn’t weighted myself in some time but when I stepped on the scale today, I was mortified.

I started reading "Are You Ready" by Bob Harper yesterday. Hoping that helps me figure out what went wrong. What happened along the way? How did I go from going to the gym daily to not going at all?

I packed my gym bag and my lunch for tomorrow…we’ll see how it goes…

Starting again…

October 18, 2008

Well, I’m starting over again. I’ve been off track with working out for some time now…my diet has been pretty good with a few flubs here and there. But I weigh 170 pounds and still not happy. I got myself back into the gym today after work and pushed out 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and 5-10 minutes of ab work. I also squeeze in 20 minutes on the treadmill before lunch at work. I also started writing everything down in what I call my fitness journal. I put in the good, bad and ugly of what I ate and detailed workouts. I think this is going to help me become accountable for what I do and what I out into my mouth. Haven’t taken any more progress pictures because…sad to say, there has been no progress. But no regression either. Well, my goal is still the same…get down to 135-140 lbs. Short term is to lose at least 15 lbs by my birthday in February. The journey begins…again….

Party weekend…

September 28, 2008

This weekend was my mom’s 60th birthday! We threw her this big surprise party on Saturday and it was awesome. The only down side was that I ate practically everything I should not have. Plus I didn’t workout a bit. However, I came home and got on the scale and I weigh 171.6. There’s hope! I’m getting back on track in the morning…wish me luck :-)

Again….Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Oh, leg day…

September 19, 2008

I just have to say…..

Cardio after my leg workout is the hardest thing I’ve every done!

I push through it though b/c I know there are muscles in me that are just dying to be seen :-)

Leg day…

September 5, 2008

I finally got to train my legs today. It was tough. But Soooo good. Anyways, I did the following:

Leg extensions, lying leg curls, adductors, standing calf raises, weighted walking lunges, smith machine squats, still leg deadlifts, and 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical (low incline, high intensity).

Diet was on point. Got to keep that up though.

Worried about the weekend though. Please pray that Hanna doesn’t cause too much damage and we all make it safely through.

Keeping it up…

September 4, 2008

Well, this week is going well for me. My workouts have been as follows:

Monday- Off

Tuesday - 45 minutes of cardio on eliptical

Wednesday - Shoulders: Pec-dec reverse flys, bent oer lateral cable raises, front plate raises, shoulder press, and 45 minutes of cardio on elliptical.

Thursday - Chest & Biceps: Rope bicep curls, preacher curls, pec-dec flys, double bicep curl, flat bench dumbbell press, inclined dumbbell bench press, hammer curls, and 25 minutes of cardio on elliptical.

My diet has been much better, but it’s still a daily struggle. I went grocery shopping this afternoon and stocked up on healthy and nutritious things. I’m trying hard. Really I am.

Tomorrow is leg day…really looking forward to going to the gym. I haven’t trained lower body in two weeks other than my cardio.

Sticking with the plan…

August 28, 2008

Well, this has been my workout schedule so far this week:

(Please keep in mind I do pyramid sets…12, 10, 8, 15 of each exercise.)

Monday - Shoulders

Arnold press, machine shoulder press, low cable bent over lateral raises, cable front raises, upright row, reverse fly (pec/dec machine)

Tuesday - OFF

Wednesday - Back & Triceps

Seated row, close grip lat pulldown, machine upright row, skull crushers, dips, straight bar tricep pushdowns, back extensions, straight leg ball pass crunches.

Thursday - Chest & Biceps

Bench press, inclined bench press, machine flies, preacher curls, hammer curls, bicep rope curls, 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical.

So, I think the workout is going pretty well. I am having so much trouble with my diet lately though. It’s killing me! I don’t want to gain any of my weight back but I’m surely not losing any either.

I am open to any and all suggestions on what I can do to get back on track.

How do you keep your diet clean? How do I say no to that cinnamon roll that keeps calling my name in the morning?  HELLLLPPPPP!

Final measurements…

August 25, 2008

Well I got my final measurements this morning from my personal trainer. I was both happy and disappointed at the same time. I knew that my losses were not as much as they should have been…or could have been. That’s where th disappointment comes in. However, I was happy because of the losses I did have.

I went from 29.0% bodyfat to 26.1%. Chest was 39 inches at start, now 39.5 inches. Thigh was 24 3/4 inches at start, now 24 inches. Calf was 16 inches at start, now 15 2/3 inches. Shoulders were 45 3/4 inches at start, now 43 inches. Hips were 42.5 inches at start, now 40 1/3 inches. Bicep was 12 inches at start, now 12 1/3 inches. Waist was 35.5 inches at start, now 32 1/3 inches. Weight went from 179 lbs to 170 lbs.

My goal is still to get down to 140 lbs. I have a long way to go still but I’ve come so far. I am so much stronger than I’ve ever been. I may not be as muscular as before but that’s coming along nicely :-)

I have chenged my weight training from upper/lower body splits to the following:

Monday: Shoulders

Tuesday: Back and Triceps
Wednesday: Cardio 45 minutes/Abs
Thursday: Chest and Biceps

Friday: Legs

Saturday: Cardio 45 minutes/Abs

Sunday: OFF

Been doing this split for almost two weeks now. Feels good so far. Wish me luck! I’ll also take any suggstions too :-)

Last Session…

August 20, 2008

Tomorrow is my last session with my trainer. I’m sad about it but I know that he has instilled in me everything that he could. I have the knowledge to be successful on my own. Now is test time.

My first competition…

August 16, 2008

I attended my first bodybuilding and figure competition today and it was great. I went to both prejudging and finals. I have a new respect for anyone and everyone who competes. Those ladies and men where magnificent. It’s like one thing for me to see a great physique in a magazine but to see someone in person is just amazing. I definitely have a new motivation to continue with my program. Who knows, maybe next year I’ll be on stage…
