Creatine….good or bad?
I have never taken creatine supplements, though it seems many people use it on a daily basis. Friends have told me that it is a waste of money. I have done research and found that it increases ATP production…..so basically it will give me more energy, allowing me to lift more on a short term basis? It sounds like hype to me, I prefer my Whey protein….but what do you guy’s think about it?

Creatine is supposedly one of the most popular, most effective supplements out there. However, I have yet to find any fully credible, objective research (it may exist, though) that demonstrates creatine’s assumed effects. Of course the companies that sell creatine have produced "research," but anything that come from the companies "labs" is surely suspect.
There is research out there about creatine and athletes, but even then it’s a little sketchy. So if someone else who reads this knows of some objective, credible research, maybe you can help us out.
Bottom line: I agree with your friends about it being a waste of money. Experiential evidence showed that to me, as it had absolutely no effect when I tried it (and I used it religiously for a while).

honestly……….you have absolutely no understanding of how supp’s work.keep listening to your"friends" it’s workin out nice 4 you.and yes use creatine…….i use it daily and i think after as much time and money i’ve put into trying different supp’s i have a pretty good opinion.sorry to be harsh but you might as well know your friends don’t have a clue……….and you need to keep reading and studying supp’s, exercise….etc.-aaron

Ahhhh…..Nice to see two different opinions. Ampamp75….how do you know that creatine has helped you so much? This is not a negative question….i need advice about supplements, because I am trying to figure out whats good and whats not. So what exactly does it do for you? Also, do you use whey protein?

Hi,
I have used creatine on and off for years and it always seems to help me gain strength and size. some studies have proven this, but also remember that somethings just do not work for some people. you have to give the product a fair shot (at least a month) and then you can judge for yourself, not just off what a bunch of people have told you. take it alongside your whey and current training and see what creatine or any other products can do for you.

Thanks for the advice goose! I only have experience with products like whey….but im sure creatine could have a synergistic effect taken along with whey. Have you heard of a product called 20-Hydroxyecdysone?

I don’t know much about what it does or how much it has helped me but I use it everday before workouts. The days I don’t use it i am barely able to go for an hour and half. with it I can easily go for 3 hours AND more of solid lifting. If you haven’t tried it I would like to suggest NoExplode. There are other brands that are supposed to do the same thing but I have never tried them because it works so well. I guess it’s just personal preference. Ask someone at your gym if you can have a couple scoops and just try it one day and see the results. The lemon lime seems to be the strongest for me but I think it’s because its more fine and more of it goes into the scoop (volume). If I’ve gone off on too many tangents, sorry.

Wow….so you really feel a difference in energy? I really couldnt imagine that the brandname matter…..after all, creatine is creatine. Its not some kind of special combination of stuff. I will check out no-exlod though. Take care, keep up the trains.

Don’t know much about 20-Hydroxyecdysone, something about a testosterone booster etc( i could be wrong though). No-xplode is a good pre-workout booster also gives a nitric oxide boost. if you just want to try creatine though, get a pure product. Either Creatine Monohydrate or Creatine Ethyl Ester.

Hey brother,
I recently bought a bottle of creatine. I’ve used it in the past, about 10 years ago. It worked with great results. I gained about 8-10 pounds of muscle, but I stopped using it shortly afterwards. A word of advice, make sure you cycle the useage, on for two months off for one. Drink a lot of water! Try L-glutamine for muscle recovery.
good luck
